RESOLUTION NO. 20054 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT <br />BEACH ESTABLISHING THE CITY COUNCIL /CITIZENS AD HOC <br />COMMITTEE FOR MARINA PARK PLANNING <br />WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach owns the property located on the <br />Balboa Peninsula between Newport Bay and Balboa Boulevard and between 18th <br />and 15th Streets, commonly known as Marina Park; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach desires to plan <br />for the future use of said property in accordance with State and local laws; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of the Marina <br />Park property to the community and the variety of community needs and desires <br />that could be met with proper planning for future use of the property; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to establish an open, public planning <br />process; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach <br />hereby resolves as follows: <br />SECTION 1. ESTABLISHMENT <br />The City Council /Citizens Ad Hoc Committee for Marina Park Planning <br />(Committee) shall be established as of the date this Resolution is approved by <br />four members of the City Council voting at a duly noticed meeting of the City <br />Council. <br />SECTION 2. DUTIES <br />The Committee shall have the following duties: <br />a) Develop goals for future use of the Marina Park property and guidelines <br />for the planning process. <br />b) Gather and consider technical information related to the property, <br />including, but not limited to, State "tidelands" restrictions, General Plan <br />and Local Coastal Program policies, Zoning regulations, Coastal Act <br />policies, and water quality regulations. <br />
