OF $15,000 FROM THE CALIFORNIA. COASTAL COMMISSION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SELF SUSTAINING 'kIrICIVII0.1 R 1 LCOOIIIV FUR rl R7rl JUrIVUL J 1 UUCIV 1 J FOCUSING ON. THE IMPACT OF WATERSHED RUNOFF AND ITS IMPACT IN THE SURROUNDING REGION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH HEREBY FINDS, RESOLVES AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is desirous of creating a self sustaining chemistry lesson for high school students to learn about the impact of watersheds on their local beach, and marine environments; and WHEREAS, for the purposes of this project, self sustaining means all tuition fees will. be reinvested in the program to pay for supplies; and WHEREAS, the California Coastal Commission is authorized to provide grants to non - profit organizations or government entities; for development of youth programs; and / 1 WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is willing to enter an agreement to 1 provide an educational experience to all interested parties at no cost other than the original grant; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council by adoption of this resolution hereby requests the California Coastal Commission to provide a grant for the purposes of developing a self sustaining chemistry lesson for high: school students. PASSED, APPROVED AND .ADOPTED BY THE NEWPORT BEACH CITY COUNCIL BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE. AYES: Selich, Rosansky, Webb, Ridgeway, Daigle, Nichols, Mayor Heffernan ABSENT: None NOES: None..
