RESOLUTION NO. 2005- 52 <br />A RESOLUTION OF CITY COUNCIL. OF THE CITY OF <br />NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING A.GRANT IN THE AMOUNT'. <br />OF $15,000 FROM THE CALIFORNIA. COASTAL COMMISSION <br />FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SELF SUSTAINING <br />'kIrICIVII0.1 R 1 LCOOIIIV FUR rl R7rl JUrIVUL J 1 UUCIV 1 J <br />FOCUSING ON. THE IMPACT OF WATERSHED RUNOFF AND <br />ITS IMPACT IN THE SURROUNDING REGION. <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH HEREBY FINDS, <br />RESOLVES AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS: <br />WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is desirous of creating a self <br />sustaining chemistry lesson for high school students to learn about the impact of <br />watersheds on their local beach, and marine environments; and <br />WHEREAS, for the purposes of this project, self sustaining means all <br />tuition fees will. be reinvested in the program to pay for supplies; and <br />WHEREAS, the California Coastal Commission is authorized to provide <br />grants to non - profit organizations or government entities; for development of <br />youth programs; and <br />/ 1 WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is willing to enter an agreement to <br />1 provide an educational experience to all interested parties at no cost other than <br />the original grant; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council by adoption <br />of this resolution hereby requests the California Coastal Commission to provide a <br />grant for the purposes of developing a self sustaining chemistry lesson for high: <br />school students. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND .ADOPTED BY THE NEWPORT BEACH CITY <br />COUNCIL BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE. <br />AYES: Selich, Rosansky, Webb, Ridgeway, Daigle, Nichols, Mayor Heffernan <br />ABSENT: None <br />NOES: None.. <br />MAYOR <br />ATTEST: <br />'.4/ r <br />CITY CLERK <br />
