RESOLUTION NO. 2006- 18 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NEWPORT BEACH INITIATING AN AMENDMENT TO <br />THE GENERAL PLAN (GPA 2006 -002) AND A CODE <br />AMENDMENT (CA 2006 -003) [PA2006 -047]. <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH HEREBY FINDS, <br />RESOLVES AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS: <br />WHEREAS, the property at 127 Industrial Way is currently located within the <br />Costa Mesa City Limits but is owned by the City of Newport Beach and is part of the <br />Newport Beach General Services Department's Corporation Yard. <br />WHEREAS, to facilitate current and future use and administration of the site, the <br />City intends to pursue detachment of the parcel from the City of Costa Mesa and <br />annexation of the property into the City of Newport Beach. <br />WHEREAS, the proposed General Plan Amendment and Zone Code <br />Amendment will establish a General Plan Designation and Zoning Designation for the <br />property prior to its detachment and annexation into the City of Newport Beach <br />WHEREAS, to ensure consistency with current and future operation of the site, <br />the City intends to establish a General Plan and Zoning Designation of Government, <br />Educational and Institutional Facilities (GEIF) for the subject property. <br />WHEREAS, City Council Policy K -1 establishes that amendments to the <br />General Plan that are not part of a development application shall be initiated by the City <br />Council. <br />
