HomeMy WebLinkAbout84-100 - Employee Classification & Compensation PlanRESOLUTION NO. 84 -100 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY r OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLAN FOR 1984 - '85 WHEREAS, Section 2.28.010 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code provides that, upon the recommendation of the City Manager, the City Council shall establish, by resolution, the classification of positions in City employment, and a salary range or rate for each class or position; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended the adoption of a Municipal Employee Classification and Compensation Plan for 1984 - 185 as a compilation of City Council approved salaries, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A," and incorporated herein by reference. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Municpal Employee Classification and.Compensation Plan, Exhibit "A" hereto, which includes an alphabetical list of permanent classes and assignments of salary ranges; consisting of five pages; and an alphabetical list of temporary and seasonal classes of employees and assignment to salary ranges consisting of one page; and, special provisions regarding compensation consisting of four pages, be and hereby is adopted as the Classification and Compensation Plan for 1984 - 185 for employees of the City of Newport Beach. SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL League Employees Excluding Mechanics Employees assigned to regular full -time work shifts at night shall receive $.37'k per hour night differential pay. • Mechanics Equipment Mechanics assigned to regular full -time shifts at night shall receive $ .50 per hour night differential pay. Association Employees Clerical employees, including Library employees, assigned to a regularly scheduled work shift of which four or more hours are worked between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. shall receive $.37331 per hour night shift differential. Police Clerical Employees Police clerical employees assigned to regular full -time shifts at night shall receive $ .3731 per hour night differential pay. II. CALL BACK League Employees Employees working between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. shall receive an additional $.75 per hour. Said $.75 per hour shall be added to the employee's normal overtime rate. III. ASSIGNMENT PAY League Employees One -man Refuse Crewman and Refuse Leadman assigned to a one -man Packer: packer and a standard 40 -hour work week shall receive an 15.0% additional 15% compensation. SPECIAL OFF -DUTY COMPENSATION All City Employees: City Representatives: All City employees assigned as representatives of the City to work for private employers shall receive special • overtime compensation at their regularly assigned salary rate. The private employers will be billed by the City for the amount of this compensation, plus overhead, as follows: 22.0% All employees during non - working hours. 30.0% Miscellaneous.employees during working hours. 31.5% Public Safety (Police and Fire) during normal working hours.
