HomeMy WebLinkAbout86-7 - Teen-Youth Committee FeasibilityRESOLUTION NO. 86 -7 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNC I L OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 85 -87 BY ADDING TO THE DUTIES AND MEMBERSHIP OF THE • COUNCIL AD HOC COMMITTEE EVALUATING THE FEASIBILITY OF A TEEN /YOUTH COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the City Council has formed an Ad Hoc Committee to evaluate the feasibility of a Teen /Youth Committee and now desires to add to the duties and memberships of that Committee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that Resolution No. 85 -87 be amended to read, in pertinent part, as follows: Section 1: The composition, function and duties of the Council Ad Hoc Committee evaluating the feasibility of a Teen /Youth Committee shall be as follows: 1. Membership: The membership shall include two members of the City Council appointed by the Mayor, the Chairman of the Parks, Beaches and Recreation Commission, one (1) representative of the Chamber of Cormnerce and one (1) member from the Restaurant Association appointed by the Mayor, three (3) concerned parents of minors to be appointed by the Mayor and one (1) representative from the School District. 2. Responsibilities: • The duties and responsibilities of the Committee shall be to examine the feasibility of establishing a Teen or Youth Commission /Committee and, if feasible, recommend the specific duties, responsibilities, membership, makeup, staffing -1- responsibilities, meeting frequency, and other characteristics of such Commission or Committee. In addition to the duties described above, and prior to submitting its report to the City Council, the Ad Hoc Committee shall provide Council advice • regarding the feasibility of a Teen /Youth Center and recreational activities for minors. The Committee shall meet as called by the Chairman. Said Chairman shall be appointed by the Mayor. 3. Termination: The Committee shall sunset on July 31, 1986. ADOPTED this 13th day of January, 1986.
