A resolution of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
declaring that the installation of air conditioning at the Newport Theatre
Arts Center shall be performed more economically if the supplies and
• materials were purchased on the open market and authorizing a contract
•
for the improvement without advertising for bids.
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach owns and maintains the Newport
Theatre Arts Center located at 2501 Cliff Drive, Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Theatre auditorium is in need of air conditioning
to enhance the facility's use during periods of warm weather; and
WHEREAS, the 1985 -86 City budget contains an appropriation to
construct such an improvement; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the improvement shall be
performed more economically if the supplies were purchased on the open
market to avoid a substantial fee for preparation of mechanical plans and
specifications required for bidding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City
of Newport Beach that
1. The City Council hereby authorizes the staff to accept
the proposal of E. L. Payne for the installation of air conditioning for
a total cost of $17,428.00.
ADOPTED this 10th day of March, 1986.
