RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
• AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 1986 -1987 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT ENTITLEMENT FUNDS APPLICATION AND
AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF THAT AMENDMENT TO THE
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, on June 25, 1984, the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach adopted Resolution No. 84 -59 amending the Housing
Element of the General Plan consistent with the provisions of Govern-
ment Code Sections 65580 et seq, (Roos Bill); and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is making a good faith
effort to implement the policies and programs contained in the General
Plan Housing Element; and
WHEREAS, it is the City's desire to benefit low and moderate
income households; and
WHEREAS, the City was originally allocated $357,000 in
1986 -1987 Community Development Block Grant funds which were designat-
ed for land acquisition and social service programs in Resolution No.
86 -34 approved by the City Council on May 12, 1986; and
WHEREAS, Congress approved the Urgent Supplemental Appro-
priations Act of 1986 and the City has been allocated an additional
$73,000 for fiscal year 1986 -87; and
WHEREAS, the City has published a notice of public hearing
requesting comments and program funding requests; and
WHEREAS, the City has considered all public comments or
views which have been received either in writing or at the public
hearing; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to allocate these additional funds
for land acquisition for lower income housing and for social services
• benefitting the homeless.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach that a 1986 -1987 Community Development
Block Grant Amendment is hereby authorized.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby
identified as the official representative of the Grantee and
authorized to submit the Amendment, subject to all understandings and
assurances contained in the original application, and such additional
information as may be required, —
