HomeMy WebLinkAbout87-10 - Stop Sign on Acacia Street at 2nd Street• RESOLUTION NO. 87 -10 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING RESOLUTION NUMBER 7333, AND REQUIRING VEHICLES TO STOP TRAVELLING ON ACACIA AVENUE, AT SECOND AVENUE WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 7333 requiring traffic on Second Avenue to stop at Acacia; and WHEREAS, Section 12.36.010 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code provides, among other things, that whenever any ordinance or resolution of this City designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a through street, or any intersection at which vehicles are required to stop at one or more entrances thereto, the City Traffic Engineer shall erect and maintain stop signs on each and every street intersecting such through street or portion thereof so designated; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that there is a need for the stop sign to be removed on Second Avenue and placed on Acacia Avenue due to the traffic speeds on Second Avenue are influenced by existing crossgutters, and there are no traffic control devices for several blocks on Acacia Avenue. All vehicles travelling on Acacia Avenue shall stop at Second Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, that the following described location is hereby designated as a location at which vehicles are required to stop: Acacia Avenue shall stop at Pacific and Second Avenue. isSecond at Avocado, Goldenrod and Heliotrope.
