A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING AN ALLOWANCE OF THREE
HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS AND THREE CENTS
($325.03) PER MONTH, ADJUSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, TO THE MAYOR IN
ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 404 OF THE CHARTER.

WHEREAS, Section 404 of the City Charter and City Council
Policy F -17 provide that the City Council may, by resolution,
provide for the payment to the Mayor of an allowance to reimburse
the Mayor for additional expenses incurred in so serving; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to City Council Policy F -17, the
allowance is to be adjusted to reflect changes in the Consumer
Price Index using May, 1974 as the base month and year; and
WHEREAS, changes in the Consumer Price Index, for the
month of May, are received by the City on July 1st of each year;
and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to adjust the allowance, paid
to the Mayor, effective July 1, 1988, to reflect increases in the
CPI; and
WHEREAS, prior to July 1, 1988, the Mayor was allowed the
sum of $311.23 and it is proposed to increase that sum by $4.43 %,
an amount less than the 5% maximum increase authorized by the
Charter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that the Mayor be allowed the sum of Three
Hundred Twenty -Five Dollars and Three Cents ($325.03) per month
effective July 1, 1988 as reimbursement for additional demands and
expenses incurred in serving as Mayor and in accordance with
Section 404 of the Newport Beach City Charter.
ADOPTED this 22nd day of November, 1988.
