RESOLUTION NO. 89- 112
A RESOLUTION OF THE CIT`.Z COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A
SCHEDULE OF RATES FOR TAXICABS AND
RESCINDING RESOLUTION 85 -77.
WHEREAS, Section 5.12.100 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code
provides that the City Council shall, by Resolution, establish a
schedule of rates applicable to all taxicabs operating in the City
of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 85 -77 has heretofore been adopted
establishing said rates; and
WHEREAS, a request for a change in the rates has been made by
the taxicab operator holding a Certificate of Public Convenience
and Necessity; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing and
considered said application and finds that the following rates are
reasonable and necessary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach hereby establishes the following schedule of
rates:
1. $1.90 for the first 1 /8th mile;
2. $0.20 for each additional 1/8th mile;
3. $20.00 per hour for waiting and traffic delay time;
4. No charge for service cancellations.
5. No charge for the first three minutes waiting time.
6. No charge for additional passengers (e.g., five can ride
for the price of one.)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution 85 -77 be and hereby is
rescinded.
ADOPTED this 9th day of October, 1989.
