RESOLUTION NO. 91 -108
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH IMPOSING ADMINISTRATIVE FEE
FOR PROCESSING OF DELINQUENT PARKING
VIOLATIONS.
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach requires payment of an
administrative fee of $5.00 at the mailing of a first notice of
delinquent parking violation to the registered owner of a car for
a violation of City Municipal Code or California Vehicle Code
parking regulations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach charges an administrative
fee of $13.00 at such time as a hold is requested by the Department
of Motor Vehicles on the renewal or registration of a vehicle which
has been issued a parking violation and has failed to pay the
penalty within the prescribed period.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach as follows:
1. That no administrative fee shall be imposed upon a
delinquent parking violation until such time as an initial fifteen
day notice period has expired and the City has placed a hold on the
renewal of the registration of the vehicle with the Department of
Motor Vehicles.
2. The administrative fee for processing a hold with the
Department of Motor Vehicles shall be double the amount of the
original penalty less any surcharges imposed pursuant to Government
Code Section 76000.
