A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING AN ADJUSTMENT TO
THE ALLOWANCE FOR EXPENSES, COMPUTED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, TO
THE MAYOR AS PER SECTION 404 OF THE CHARTER.
• WHEREAS, Section 404 of the City Charter and City Council
Policy F -17 provide that the City Council may, by resolution,
provide for the payment to the Mayor of an allowance to reimburse
the Mayor for additional expenses incurred in so serving; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to City Council Policy F -17, the
allowance is to be adjusted to reflect changes in the Consumer
Price Index using May, 1974 as the base month and year; and
WHEREAS, changes in the Consumer Price Index, for the
month of May, are received by the City on July 1st of each year;
and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to adjust the allowance, paid
tc the mayor, effective each July 1, to reflect increases in the
CPI.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that the Mayor be allowed an adjustment to
the reimbursement for additional demands and expenses incurred in
serving as Mayor as per Section 404 of the Newport Beach City
Charter and City Council Policy F -17. Such adjustment will be made
each July 1 until such action is rescinded by Council resolution.
