A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTIONS
OF THE NEWPORT MESA IRVINE INTERFAITH COUNCIL
TO COMMUNITY HARMONY AND INTERFAITH
UNDERSTANDING.
• WHEREAS, the Newport Mesa Irvine Interfaith Council is
dedicated to promoting interfaith, understanding and community
harmony; and
WHEREAS, the cities of Costa Mesa, Irvine and Newport Beach
have become a better place to live, work and play due to the
efforts of the Newport Mesa Irvine Interfaith Council in promoting
interfaith understanding and community harmony; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Mesa Irvine Interfaith Council will
conduct a "Celebration of Interfaith" on October 21, 1992; and
WHEREAS, the "Celebration of Interfaith" brings together the
elected, civic and interfaith leadership of Costa Mesa, Irvine and
Newport Beach to recognize individuals, congregations and community
programs which develop and promote interfaith understanding and
community harmony; and
WHEREAS, the individuals, congregations and programs honored
as a part of the Celebration of Interfaith have demonstrated
special success in developing and promoting interfaith
understanding and inter - personal harmony; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Beach City Council wishes to recognize,
by this Resolution, the important role played by the Interfaith
• Council, and its honorees, in the development of understanding,
harmony, compassion and concern demonstrated by the residents of
Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Irvine.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Newport Beach as follows:
1. The Newport Beach City Council hereby recognizes the
important role played by the Newport Mesa Irvine Interfaith Council
• in the development and promotion of community harmony, spirit, and
interfaith understanding.

2. The Newport Beach City Council hereby recognizes the
Celebration of Interfaith as a significant and important event
which honors individuals, congregations and organizations devoted
to the promotion of interfaith understanding and community harmony.
3. The Celebration of Interfaith honorees deserve special
recognition for their contribution to interfaith understanding and
the spirit of goodwill, all of which significantly contribute to
the high quality of life experienced by Newport Beach residents.
