RESOLUTION NO. 92 -115
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH APPROVING THE SUPER
STREET FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR MACARTHUR
BOULEVARD.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH HEREBY RESOLVES, DETERMINES, AND
ORDERS AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach supports the super
street concept as one method of reducing traffic congestion; and
WHEREAS, MacArthur Boulevard has been designated a super
street from Pacific Coast Highway to San Joaquin Hills
Transportation Corridor; and
WHEREAS, a super street feasibility study has been
cooperatively completed by the City of Newport Beach, City of
Irvine, and the Orange County Transportation Authority for
MacArthur Boulevard from Pacific Coast Highway to San Joaquin
Hills Transportation Corridor; and
WHEREAS, this feasibility study identified improvements to
MacArthur Boulevard based on (1) improving traffic level of
service, (2) minimizing right -of -way acquisition, environmental
impacts and economic impacts, and (3) cost - effectiveness;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach has reviewed and approved the MacArthur
Boulevard Super Street Feasibility Study; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach hereby endorses submittal of the feasibility study
for MacArthur Boulevard to the Orange County Transportation
Authority for their review and approval thereby granting
eligibility for Measure M Super Street Program Funds for
MacArthur Boulevard.
