RESOLUTION NO. 93 -22 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT <br />BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT <br />AN APPLICATION TO THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY <br />AND THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS FOR <br />THE CONSTRUCTION OF PEDESTRIAN AND BIKEWAY FACILITIES AND <br />SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION FOR REGIONAL FUNDING FOR THE <br />IRVINE AVENUE /UNIVERSITY DRIVE REGIONAL TRAIL BY THE COUNTY <br />• OF ORANGE (RE. 1993 -94 BB -821 FUNDING PROGRAM) <br />WHEREAS, SB -821 provides that 2% of each County's total <br />Local Transportation Fund (LTF) be annually set aside and used to <br />fund the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has a bikeway and <br />pedestrian system in conformance with specifications of Caltran's <br />Planning and Design Criteria for Bikeways in California and the <br />Regional ; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to construct <br />the Master Plan bikeway and pedestrian improvements within the <br />City of Newport Beach; <br />WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach and the County of <br />Orange have entered into a cooperative agreement to design and <br />intend to cooperatively construct the Irvine Avenue /University <br />Drive Regional Trail. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Newport <br />Beach shall apply to Orange County Transportation Authority and <br />the Southern California Association of Governments, as follows: <br />1. To adopt the Bikeway System in conformance with <br />the specifications of Caltrans' Planning and <br />Design Criteria for Bikeways in California and the <br />Regional Transportation Plan. <br />2. Apply for all funds available to the City of <br />Newport Beach which are allocated for bikeways and <br />pedestrian facilities; and <br />3. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, as <br />the City's authorized signatory and designated <br />contact person. <br />4.
