A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH DESIGNATING THE NEWPORT
PIER AREA AS "OLD TOWN"
WHEREAS, the shipping and passenger service which developed at the Newport
Pier area over a century ago marked the beginnings of the Newport Beach community; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Pier Association has requested that the City of Newport
Beach officially designate this area as "Old Town;" and
WHEREAS, the designation of the Newport Pier area as "Old Town" will assist in
establishing the historic identity and character sought by the businesses in the area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does hereby designate the area within the boundaries of the McFadden
Square Assessment District as "Old Town."
