Resolution No. 93- 31 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NEWPORT BEACH RESCINDING RESOLUTION 92 -56: <br />MODIFYING THE CHARGES LEVIED BY OTHER AGENCIES <br />FOR WATER SERVICES AND <br />REQUIRING THOSE CHARGES BE DESIGNATED AS A <br />SEPARATE ITEM ON THE MUNICIPAL SERVICES STATEMENT <br />• <br />WHEREAS, a number of public agencies impose charges ( "Other Agency <br />Charges ") based on the City's supply and sale of water to its citizens; and, <br />WHEREAS, these Other Agency Charges include a Coastal Municipal Water <br />District Surcharge, a State Department of Health Services Fee for funding its <br />Office of Drinking Water, a charge by the Orange County Department of Health to <br />fund its backflow program, a charge by the Orange County Water District to be a <br />member, charges by the County Sanitation Districts of Orange County and the <br />South Coast Air Quality Management District; and, <br />WHEREAS, for the fiscal year 1993 -94, the Other Agency Charges total <br />$110,450 or a bi- monthly charge per water service connection of $0.79; and, <br />WHEREAS, Other Agency Charges should be shown as a separate item <br />on the municipal services statements, since these charges are not imposed by <br />the City of Newport Beach, the charges are required to be paid by law, and the <br />City does not share in or receive a portion of the Other Agency Charges; and, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Newport Beach as follows: <br />1. A bi- monthly charge of $0.79 shall be imposed for each water <br />service connection and the charge shall be designated as a separate item on <br />the municipal services statement under the heading "Other Agency Charges ". <br />2.
