A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING MEMBERSHIP IN THE
ORANGE COUNTY AUTO THEFT TASK FORCE.
• WHEREAS, The problems surrounding automobile theft and car
jacking are increasing in California; and
WHEREAS, The Orange County Board of Supervisors adopted
Resolution No. 93 -54, pursuant to California Vehicle Code Section
9250.14 to establish an Orange County Auto Theft Task Force and
funding to impact the increasing incidence of auto theft; and
WHEREAS, The City of Newport Beach has pledged it support to
work with the County of Orange, District Attorney's Office,
Sheriff's Department, and eight other cities and various state
and federal agencies to help to address this problem.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does hereby:
1. Authorize the Newport Beach Police Department to
participate as a member in the Orange County Auto Theft
Task Force membership and to represent this City in
respect to the Task Force activities; and
2. Authorize that applicable City reimbursement will be made
in accordance and compliance with County of Orange
accepted accounting procedures, and as referenced in the
Orange County Auto Theft Task Force Progress Report.
