Webb, Public Works Director- (949) 644 -3330, <br />dawebb @newportbeachca.gov <br />PREPARED BY: Peter Tauscher, Civil Engineer <br />PHONE: (949) 644 -3316 <br />TITLE: 2014 -2015 Playground Improvements - Award of Contract No. 5855 (CAP15 -0030 <br />and CAP15 -0031) <br />ABSTRACT: <br />Staff has received favorable bids for the 2014 -2015 Playground Improvements project and is requesting <br />City Council approval to award the construction contract to Malibu Pacific Tennis Courts, Inc. of Westlake <br />Village, California. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />a) Approve the project plans and specifications; <br />b) Award Contract No. 5855 to Malibu Pacific Tennis Courts, Inc. (Malibu Pacific) for the total bid price of <br />$119,800.00, and authorize the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute the contract; and <br />c) Establish an amount of $18,200.00, approximately 15 percent, to cover the cost of unforeseen work. <br />FUNDING REQUIREMENTS: <br />Sufficient funding for the award of this contract is available in the following funds: <br />Account Description Account Number Amount <br />Building Excise Tax 7271- C4002021 $ 73,000.00 <br />Building Excise Tax 7271- C4002020 $ 65,000.00 <br />Total:$ 138,000.00 <br />Proposed uses are as follows: <br />Vendor Purpose Amount <br />Malibu Pacific Construction Contract $ 119,800.00 <br />Malibu Pacific Construction Contingency $ 18,200.00 <br />Total:$ 138,000.00 <br />La <br />
