CITY OF <br />F NEWPORT REACH <br />" City Council Staff Report <br />November 25, 2014 <br />Agenda Item No. 18 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: Dave Kiff, City Manager— (949) 644 -3002, dkiff <br />PREPARED BY: Kim Rieff <br />PHONE: (949) 644 -3005 <br />TITLE: Human Services Grants for Fiscal Year 2014 -2015 <br />ABSTRACT: <br />The City of Newport Beach ( "City') annually awards a number of Human Services Grants to organizations <br />that serve residents and are beneficial to resident's quality of life. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Pursuant to City Council Policy A -12, find that the organizations listed below have worthy projects or <br />programs that serve residents and are beneficial to resident's quality of life and authorize the allocation of <br />$25,000 in Human Services Grants in the following manner: <br />Youth Employment Services (Harbor Area) $4,500 <br />Serving People in Need (SPIN) $3,500 <br />Orange County Council on Aging $5,000 <br />Advocates for Grandparent - Grandchild Connection $3,000 <br />Newport Harbor High School $4,000 <br />Boys & Girls Club of the Harbor Area $5,000 <br />$25,000 <br />FUNDING REQUIREMENTS: <br />The current adopted budget includes sufficient funding for the Human Services Grants, which will be <br />expensed to the City Council's budget account 0110 -8254. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The adopted City Budget and City Council Policy A -12 Discretionary Grants (Attachment A) set aside <br />$25,000 (Account #0110 -8254) to provide financial assistance to organizations providing services to local <br />residents. The operative section of City Council Policy A -12 provides: <br />18 -1 <br />
