Badum, Public Works Director <br />949 - 644 -3311, sbadum @newportbeachca.gov <br />PREPARED BY: Socheata Chhouk, Associate Civil Engineer <br />APPROVED:C <br />TITLE: Taste of Newport Banners — Approval of Encroachment Permit <br />N2012 -0203 <br />ABSTRACT: <br />The Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce is requesting approval to install 100 <br />banners on City and Caltrans owned streetlights along various roadways within the City <br />and Caltrans rights -of -way for the 24th annual "Taste of Newport". <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Conditionally approve the request of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce for <br />installation of 100 banners, from August 15, 2012, to September 17, 2012, for the <br />annual "Taste of Newport". Installation will be along Westcliff Drive, Jamboree Road, <br />MacArthur Boulevard, Newport Boulevard, and East Coast Highway. <br />FUNDING REQUIREMENTS: <br />There is no fiscal impact related to this item. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) has requested that 100 private <br />banners be installed from August 15 through September 17, 2012, along the City's <br />major thoroughfares, for the 24th annual "Taste of Newport". The banners will be <br />mounted on streetlight poles in the public right -of -way along Westcliff Drive (6 banners), <br />Jamboree Road (18 banners), MacArthur Boulevard (22 banners), Newport Boulevard <br />(16 banners), and East Coast Highway (38 banners). See attached Location Map. The <br />banners on portions of Newport Boulevard and East Coast Highway are within Caltrans <br />right -of -way and will require a Caltrans Standard Encroachment Permit.
