HomeMy WebLinkAbout(1986, 02/24) - F-23 - AdoptedF -23 DONATION OF ART TO CITY OF NEWPORT 1. All proposals for donations of art to the City of Newport Beach shall be reviewed by the Arts Commission for recommendation to the City Council. 2. The responsibility of the Arts Commission is to: a. Advise the City Council of the artistic merit and value of paintings, sculpture, and other art offered to the City as donations. b. Advise the City Council regarding positioning and display of such art. C. Confer with persons who have offered to donate fine art to the City which may be placed in public sites or public buildings in an endeavor to generally increase the aesthetic appeal and beauty of such public sites and buildings and the City in general. 3. A donation of art to the City must have a majority agreement within the Arts Commission for recommendation to the City Council. In case of a split vote or a difference of opinion, an outside arts professional will be consulted. 4. All proposals for locating donated art shall be referred to the City Commission and /or Department which has responsibility for planning or maintaining the proposed location for recommendation to the City Council.
