STREETS AND HIGHWAYS
It has long been the fundamental objective of the City of Newport Beach
to provide a street and highway system adequate for the needs and
desires of the community and compatible with overall area plans and
requirements. The Newport Beach Master Street and Highway Plan was
initially developed in 1957 and has been consistently maintained in
a current status since that time, During this entire period the City
has participated with and cooperated with the County in the Arterial
Highway Financing Program (AHFP) on the basis of the Newport Beach
master plan and annual approval of specific projects within the plan.
It is the intent and the objective of the City of Newport Beach to
continue to maintain and upgrade its Master Street and Highway Plan
and to continue to participate and cooperate with the County in the
Arterial Highway Financing Program (AHFP). Additionally, the City
has recently initiated a comprehensive transportation study which will,
when completed, provide both long and short term traffic and transporta-
tion guidelines. The comprehensive scope of the study is intended to
provide viable guidelines to many of the unresolved local and regional
traffic and transportation problems.
