R 4 6 3_ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING SECTIONS 14.12.170, 14.12.180 AND 14.12.190 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE, AND DELETING SECTION 14.12.160, TO REFLECT REVISED WATER BILLING PROCEDURES The City Council of the City of Newport Beach DOES ORDAIN as follows: SECTION 1. Section 14.12.170 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is amended to read: "Section 14.12.170 Due Date. All consumers whose premises are connected to the municipal water system shall be billed on a bimonthly basis and all charges for water service shall be payable on the due date shown on the water bill." SECTION 2. Section 14.12.180 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is amended to read: "Section 14.12.180 Unpaid Charges. On or before the fifteenth day preceding the due date as shown on the water bill, there shall be mailed to each consumer whose premises are connected to the municipal water system a final notice of unpaid charges due to the City for water furnished to such user. Unless such charges are paid on or before the due date, the water service shall be dis- continued at that location without further notice. It shall not be reinstated until the amount due, as well as the turn -on charge specified in this chapter, have been paid." SECTION 3. Section 14.12.190 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is amended to read: -1- • is • "14.12.190 Discontinuance of Water Service. After passage of the due date as shown on the final notice, a list of delinquent accounts shall be prepared setting forth the location of the premises, the names of the owners or tenants to whom service is being furnished, and the amount of the unpaid charges. On the next busi- ness day, water service shall be discontinued at such locations and shall not be reinstated until all unpaid charges, as well as the turn -on charge specified in this chapter, have been paid." SECTION 4. Section 14.12.060 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is hereby repealed. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be published once in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effective 30 days after the date of its adoption.
