RESOLUTION NO. 93 -94 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A <br />PARKING PERMIT SYSTEM FOR USE IN THE <br />VICINITY OF NEWPORT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. <br />• WHEREAS, Title 12, Chapter 44 of the Newport Beach <br />Municipal Code establishes, among other things, on- street <br />parking meter zones and sets the fees for parking in such zones <br />and further provides that the City Council may, by resolution, <br />establish off - street parking meter zones and set the fees for <br />parking in said zones; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach operates parking <br />facilities where a vehicle may be parked, and remain parked <br />without the payment of fees, if such vehicle has displayed a <br />current, valid Parking Permit issued by the City of Newport <br />beach pursuant to authorization of the City Council; and <br />WHEREAS, Newport Elementary School has no on -site <br />parking and the staff and volunteers have had to rely on public <br />parking for as long as the school has existed. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council <br />of the City of Newport Beach as follows: <br />1. There is hereby established a parking permit <br />system consisting of a non - transferable, Parking Permit which, <br />when affixed to the font windshield of a vehicle within a 7- <br />inch square in the lower corner farthest removed from the <br />driver's position, shall authorize the parking of such vehicle <br />in the metered spaces located in the median of Balboa Boulevard <br />between 13th Street and 15th Street without requiring the <br />deposit of coins in the parking meter adjacent to said parking <br />space. Such parking permit shall not be valid on Saturday, <br />Sunday or any other day that the school is not in normal <br />operation. <br />2. The Parking Permits established pursuant to this <br />Resolution shall not be usable for vehicles in excess of twenty <br />(20) feet in length or for vehicles without windshields. <br />3. The Parking Permits hereinbefore established <br />shall be appropriately designed and dated to indicate the <br />appropriate time period during which said Parking Permit shall <br />be valid. <br />4. The adoption of this Resolution shall not be <br />construed to impair the validity of any existing Parking <br />Permit, and all said Parking Permits shall continue to be <br />effective for the term issued therefor. <br />ADOPTED this 13th day of December, 1993. <br />Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />WP51:A:NPTELEM.RES <br />
