Minutes of the March 7, 2017 PB&R Commission Meeting The following corrections are suggested: Page 2, last paragraph: “She noted that a tri-fold had been mailed out to advertise the summer camps and announced that the Spirit Run is March 10th and that staff would hold the annual Camp Expo at the Spirit Run which highlights the summer camps being offered.” [?] Page 3, third bullet, sentence 2: “He reminded the Commission that the PB&R had approved moving two Palm trees at 239 Carnation to elsewhere on the property last September; but a gas line was found was running through the root ball of the tree and it would not be replanted.” Page 3, paragraph 3 from end: “Director Pisani said the money came from the general fund and that a Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDA) is submitted to Orange County and then it goes to the State OES to see if they will declare an emergency.” Page 3, paragraph 2 from end: “Discussion arose on whether the 239 Carnation matter would need to come back to the Commission for follow-up discussion.” Page 4, paragraph 2, last two sentences: “She reminded the Commission that they had chosen this location as a dog park location and that would be part of the discussion through the conceptual design process. She commented that Public Works was applying for grants to cover the costs for a pedestrian bridge, which is a top priority.” Item V.D. Tree Donation - West Jetty View Park Is the plaque intended to read “Dedicated by Arbor Real Estate” (as indicated in the agenda) or “Donated by Arbor Real Estate”? In this context, the words “dedicated by” don’t make much sense to me. The staff report does not shed much light on how the “submitted verbiage” was arrived at: the donor’s request reproduced in Attachment A says only “Custom plaque, text to come.” Like most reports, this one does not inform the Commission of the value of the donation, other than it “is greater than $1,000.” For donations under $4,000, “Donated by” is the standard verbiage sanctioned by Policy B-17. Donations of greater value are allowed up to 25 words approved by the Commission.
