Chairman Steve Rosansky called the meeting to order at 8:07.
CONSENT CALENDAR
1. Minutes of August 16, 2006
Motion: Gary DiSano motioned to approve as written. Roy Freeman seconded the motion.
Vote: Unanimous
DISCUSSION ITEMS
1. Strategic Plan for Fiscal & Economic Sustainability -Overview and Approach —
Planning Commissioner Mike Henn gave a brief presentation on the Draft Strategic Plan for Fiscal and Economic
Sustainability.
• Goal is to have an actionable document not just policy.
• Preamble connecting it to the General Plan will be added.
• Action items will be added after receiving input from staff.
Comments and questions:
• Council Member Ed Selich
o High-end Auto Sales should be highlighted more (Goal 2)
o Traffic relationship to economics (Goal 7)
O Several commented that they thought it was good to include that goal.
• John Saunders
o Car rental on Campus Tract — objective 1 e
O Sharon Wood confirmed that this is consistent with the General Plan.

o Chamber of Commerce survey

O Beach Use and Boat Shows
• Improve revenue capture

o Any discussion of party boats in the harbor?

2. EQAC Representative's Report -
Kenneth Drellishak reported on the following:
Newport Bay Marina project review.

• Timelines
The EQAC meeting for September 21St has been cancelled
There are now five (5) vacancies on the EQAC committee.
Lloyd Ikerd can no longer be the EQAC representative.
REQUEST FOR ITEMS FOR A FUTURE AGENDA
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Richard Luehrs commented on the Taste of Newport, stating it was great but there were nine (9) noise complaints
this year. Attendance was down a little this year.
Dan Marcheano noted 18 restaurants have signed up for the dining campaign on October 8th to support the
Centennial. Restaurant week, January 21St through the 26th.
