The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach met in regular session 7.30.P.M.date and place above named. President Parkinson called the meeting to order and the roll was called showing there were present trustees:'.9.K. Parkirson;S.R.Jumper•.$.A.Robinson C.H.Vay and G.P.; "rilson.None absent. The minutes of the meetings of the 4th of October and pf the 18th ' of October were read and approved. Reports of the heads of departments for the month of October were read-and same were accepted and filed on motion of trustee S.R. Jumper,seconded by trustee C.H.7Jay and carried. The committee on securing data for the establishment of a gas distributing system reported progress and recommended that the amount of y30;000.00 be called for in a bond election for the purpose of establishing such a system. On motion of trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee G.P.'kilson and carried the report of the gas committee was accept•�d and the committee continued. Various communications were read and refferred to proper order of business. Unfinished Business:This being the hour and date set for the receiving and opening of bids for the 4 inch. pipe required. by the water department for the laying of a line at East Newport for better ^ire protection,the clerk was instructed to open the bids on hand which were as follows.Lucgy Manufaeturin� Co.$28.60 per 100 feet, F.O.B.Balboa. H.R.Boynton Co..From stock N34.13.From mill $32.18 per 100 feet. The California National Supply Co.$32.23 per 100 feet. , Smith - Booth -Usher Co4'32.07 per 100 feet. Crane Company.Dipped at mill $30.55 per 100 feet.Califonnia dipped- $31.22 per 100 feet. Shipped from stock in Los Angeles $34.13 per 100 feet. These bids were referred to the water committee and the water supt for investigagion and reccomendation on motion of trustee H.A.ftobin -j son seconded by trustee C.H.' "lay and carried. The Street Committee reported as to their finding in the matter of i the street lamp bases and on motion of trustee S.R.Jumper seconded l,y trustee G.P.Wilson and carried the street committee was instructed to secure . accurate data showing how much the lamp bases fall short of specifi -' cations. Mrs Copeland and Messers Ernst and Flood requested that they be allowed to place a wooden bulk -hbad in front of their t.roperty and acrossz20th street the matter being brot over from a previous meeting. Moved by trustee H.A.Robinson,seconded by trustee C.H.Way that the request be denied.Motion lost. A map covering the territory between 9th street and Alvarado street including Bay Island was presented and was adopted as the official map of that section of the city as provided by resolution 146. Being a resolution of the city og Newport Beach accepting as such and declaring a certain itap to be the official map of a portion of said city,accepting the streets and alleys shown tkmxxmmx and ' desiginated thereon as public streets of the city of Newport Beach, and directing said map to be recorded in the office of the Recorder of the County of Ora.nge.The adoption of this resolution was moved by trustee C.H.taay seconded by trustee SYR.Jum;.er and the roll was ordered called resulting as follows:Ayes;trustees W.K>Parkinson; S.R.Jumper;H.A.Robinson;C.H.Way and G. P .:+lilson.Noes;none.Absent;ncne President Parkinson declared resolution X146 adopted. New Business.Application was made by Bangle and Decker to be allowed) to operate a punch board in their place of business.Moved by trustee, S.R.Jumper seconded by trustee C.H.Teay and carried that request be granted on securing of the regular license governing in the matter. Application was made by Mrs Goodykoontz to conduct a fish mar; {et at Balboa.Moved by trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson I CN A i L A. :6' and carried that request be granted on the - taking -ofit of„ the regular (license provided for by city ordinance. Letter from fire apparatus co calling attention to their fire truck iwas filed. Letter from the State R.,R.COmmisSion asking as to the telephone service within $:he city was referred to the-clerk with instructions to reply to same on motion of trustee S.R.Jumper seconded by trustee G.P.74'ilson and carried. Letter from lawyer McLaughlin-stating he would hold the city and the trustees re:- ponsible for any damage the ocean might do to his property located on the ocean front wa:: filed. Engineer Funk reported on the plans and specifications presented by Mr Harding and recomended that they be returned for revision: Moved by trustee C.H.'Nay aedonded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carries that Ma Funks report be accepted and the plans returned to Pair Hardinl for revision. Electricians bond presented by W.L.Norton was accepted and filed on motion of trustee S.R.Jumper :.econded by trustee G.P.' - Vilson and carr: Bond as required by the li uor licensing ordinance presented by Max Reichenbach in the sum of 1000.00 was accepted on motion of trustee S.R.Jumper.,seconded by trustee G.P.'tiilson and carried. Moved by trustee H.A.Robinson seconded by trustee C.H.'Vay•and Barrie that the clerk be instructed to purchase three recording tide gauges range from three to nine feet at 1,75.00 each. Demand ,c_ X1282 to #385 inclusive were presented approved by the Financl committee.Moved by trustee S.R.Jumper seconded by trustee C.H.Way an carriedthat demands be allowed and warrants ordered drawn. Moved by trustee U.R.Jumper seconded by trustee G.P.Wilson and carried I tht.the resolution of intention looking to the calling-o6 a bond (a.election for the installation of a gas system when presented for second read -ine shall call for an issue of �6,30,000.00,bond;s to be 1,1000.00 each,interest 5;and retire one each year. Ordinance #116 amending ordinance #110 was read for the first time and was passed to second reading on motion of trustee C.H. -Nay seconded by trustee S.R.Jumper and carried. Trustee G.P..NilsQn asked about securing a vehicle for the use of the water department.Matter referred to the water committee. Moved by trustee C.H.i,ay,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried,that adjournment be taken to 7.30 P.M.Monday,November 8th, 1915.Adjourned. Clerk.
