City liall,Newport Beach,August 15,1917.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in ad-
journed session at 6 p.m. at the place and date above mentioned.
ROLL CALL.
On calling the roll the following Trsstees answered "Present ":
E.A. Robinson, J. J. Schnitker ,Geo.P.Wilson,J.C.IQeCain and J.P.Greeley.
Absent,None.
READING OF L1INUT -S DISPEN.ED .71TH.
The reading of the minutes t?as dispensed with and the Board
proceeded to the order of business.
BOND OF BLUE ROSS APPROVED.
By motion of Trustee J.C.YcCain,seconded by Trustee J.P.Greeley
and carried,the bond of Blue Ross as electrician was approved.
BILL FOR LIGHTING THE NE.7PORT BEACH PAVILION ASSUMED BY CITY.
It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.t7ilson,seconded by Trustee 47.J.
Schnitker and carried that the bill of 65g of the Southern Califor
Edison CO.for light in the Newport Beach Pavilion from July 4,1917
July 23,1917 be paid by the City,and that the future bills be assu
by the City and paid upon the O.K.of Trustee J.J.Schnitker.
DEED OF JOHN T.RANKIN REFERRED BACK FOR CHANGE.
It was moved by Trustee J.P.Greeley,seconded by Trustee J.J.
Schnitker and carried that the deed of John T.Rankin for a strip of
land on the northerly end of Block 1 of the Balboa Tract,this city
be referred back to the City Engineer to secure straight Grant Deed
without restrictions.
RESOLUTION NO.82.
Trustee J.J.Schnitker presented for consideration a proposed
resolution concerning the improvement of Newport Bay. The said res-
olution was read and considered,and on motion.of Trustee Geo.P.I7ilsoi;,
seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain and carried,the same was ordered filed
and to be designated Resolution No.82,andy was referred to the City
Attorney to be placed and written in formal condition for final adopt-
ion by the,Board of Trustees.
Resolution No.82.
A Resolution of the City of Newport Beach,a municipal corporation
of the sixth class, incorporated under the laws of the State of Calif -
ornia,by the legislative branch of said City,being the Board of Trust-
ees thereof,determining and declaring that the public interest and also
the public necessity demands the acquisition and construction of a
municipal improvement in the city of Newport Beach,to -wit: the widen=
ing,straighte,ning and deepening of the channel of Newport Bay,a nav -1
igable water flowing through and adjoining the City.of Newport Beach,'
in order to render the said Newport Bay navigable for the purposes of
marine commerce and travel, in order to carry out the objects,purposes
and powers of the city of Newport Beach; the cost of which municipal
improvement will be too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual
income and revenue of the city of Newport Beach. f
EMPLOYrPi NT OF H.H.BUP.TON AS INSPECTOR OF JETTY.
It was moved by Trustee J.P.Greeley,Seconded by Trustee J.C.McC
and duly carried that H.H.Burton be employed as Inspector during the
construction of the Jetty as recommended by Hr.i4.K.Barnard,at a sala
of 1,,'175.per month.

carried that the .Board adjourn.
