City Hall,Newport Beach,Calif.,April 15,1918, 7 :30 P.M.

The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach,Calif. met at
the place and on the hour above indicated.
The.roll was called and the following Trustees were found to be
present: Trustees H.A. Robinson, J. J. Schnitker ,Geo.P.wilson,J.C.MCCain
and J.P.Greeley. Absent none.
The minutes of April 1 were read and' approved with slight correction.
The minutes of April 5th were also read and approved as read.
The Street Committee reported on the installation of lights on
Newport Heights.The committee was continued.
The communication of Joseph A.Beek,being a request to construct
a landing on Balboa Island,was referred to the Street Committee.

This being the first Monday and regular meeting of the Board of
Trustees of the City of Newport Beach next after the holding of the
general municipal election held in said city on the 8th day of April,.. ._.
1918,and all returns of said election having been made and now in the,
possession of the Clerk of the City of Newport Beach,the Board of
Trustees ordered said returns opened and proceeded to canvass the same.
The returns having been canvassed,the Board made the following findings
and ordered it to be here established of record as follows : -
(1) In precince No.l for the office of member of the
of Trustees,City of Newport Beach:
R.I:I.Durkee received 79 votes
J.P.Greeley received 44 votes
Tom O.Jay received 13.votes
,Bessica F.Raiche received 14 votes
J.A.Ricker received 14 votes
J.J.Schnitker received 120 votes
L.S.7ilkinson received 119 votes
Geo.P.Wilson received 50 votes
For the office of Clerk of the City of Newport Beach
J.Roya1 Lemon received 103 votes
For the office of Treasurer of the City of Newport Beach
Lew H.Wallace received 106 votes.
(2) In precinct No.2 for the office of member of the
Board of Trustees,City of Newport Beach:
R.I:i.Durkee received 40 votes
J.P.Greeley received 139 votes
Tom O.Jay received 86 votes
Bessica F.Raiche received 79 votes
J.A.Ricker received 69 votes
J.J.Schnitker received 62 votes
T.S.1,7ilkinson received 68 votes
Geo.P.,7ilson received 83 votes
For the office of Clerk of the city of Newport Beach
J.Royal Lemon received 121 votes.
For the office of Treasurer of the city of Newport Beach
Lew Pj.;7allace received 113 votes

Kinard L.Orcutt received 1 vote.
That at said election J.P. Greeley ,J.J.Schnitker,L.S.':Jilkinson an(

That at said election J.Royal Lemon received the highest number
snd a plurality of all the votes cast for the office of Clerk of the
",ity of Newport Beach and he was declared elected,and the Clerk was
instructed to issue and deliver to said J.Royal Lemon a certificate
of his election:.
That at said election Lbw H.wallace received the highest number
and a plurality of all the votes cast for the office of Treasurer of
the Cit,- of Newport Beach and he was declared elected and the Clerk w,
instructed to'issue and deliver to said Lew H.Wallaee a certificate o:
his election.

It was moved by Trustee.Geo.P.17ilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.
McCain that J.P.Greeley be President of the Board. Ballots were taken
and the results -.vere as follows: Trustee J.P.Greeley received four
votes and L.S.Wilkinson received one vote. Trustee J.P.Greeley receiv
ing a majority of votes cast was duly declared President of the Boards
The Clerk administered the oath of office to Trustee J.P.Greeley as
President of the Board of Trustees and he took the chair.
The Clerk then administered the oath of office to the members.

and the Newport Shipbuilding Co. for the purpose of making amicable
arrangement for the use of the railway rinht of way over i:r.Ferguson's
1L.nd by the Shipbuilding Company.

Tax Collector for the ensuing term.

The oath of office was administered to J.A.Porter as Marshal and
ex officio Tax Collector. By motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded

The request of Joseph A.Beek to purchase from the City the old
landing on the northerly side of Balboa Island was referred to the
Street.Committee and the Street Superintendent with power �o act.

and carried,the Board adjourned to 7 :30 P.bI.,April 22,1918. 1
