The Board of Trustees of the City of 'Twport 3eaci: net in
regular session at 7:30 o'clock P. F. on above date. The meeting was
celled to order by President J. P. Greeley.
The roll was called showing the full Board present.
The minutes of the adjourned meetings of February 14, 20 and
' 3d and the special meeting of March 3, 1922 vrere read and approved.
The reports of tr- heads of the various dcpr)rtrents were rea
and on motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Ceo. P.
Filson and carried, the reports were accepted and ordered filed.
The comntmications were read and referred to the proper orde
f business.
NTW BUSINESS.
On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Goo
Wilson and carried, the application of the Newport harbor "arire
orp. for a permit to repeir the pier of Dr. T. J. Ruddy at the foot
f :,tontero Street, was referred to the City Engineer, the work to be
one upon his approval and upon the express condition that it be
emoved viithin 30 days upon an order of this Council.
On motion of Trustee Goo. P. '.?ilson seconded bIr Trustee
chnitker and carried, the application of the 'Newport Harbor ::arine
orp. for a permit to moor a temporary landing float in front of the
}'hite and Fr�re property just vrest of the. Fa,. Islend bridge, c:_.c
referred to the City Engineer and Harbor faster for r.tter_tion.
The application of C. S. Iieisler for a pole and bait stand
n the end of the Yewport pier was filed for future reference.

permit to build a pier at Central and K. Streets for .1. E. Bell, ,a
referred to the City Engineer, the work to be done upon his approval

Y7ilson and carried, the Plumber's Bond of Adolph Butz was approved.
Trustee Conrad Richter introduced a Resolution determining
hat the public interest and also the public necessity demands the
onpletion of the municipal gas distrib,.atirg system, and that the cos
hereof will be too great to be paid out of the ordinary annuF.1 incom
nd revenue of the City of Newport Beach. The Resolution, as ord.ere
iled, read, considered, desifnated Resolution No. 154; the roll V :cs
ailed and the Resolution passed bir the following vote:

Resolution No. 154 having; been passed by the vote of more
than two- thirds of all the members of the Board of Trustees of the
City of Newport Beach, it was thereupon signed by the President and
attested by the Clerk.
Trustee Burke made a report for the Committee of the ."hole
and recommending that the editor of the Newport News be allowed 9d a
line for the first insertion and 7¢ a lire for subsequent '.assertions
on our legal printing, and on motion of Trustee Geo. P. C;ilson
seconded by Trustee J. J. Schnitker and carried, the recommendation
re.s allowed.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Geo. P.
Wilson and carried, %p100.00 was allowed out of the Advertising and
Promotion fund for the All -Year Club of Southern California.
On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Geo
P. ':!ilscm and carried, a Eap of Tract No. 251 being a Resubdivision
of Lots 54, 55 and 65 of Fiewport heights, having been approved by thei
City Engineer, was approved.
This being the day and hour set for opening bids for 134 Pcs.
2 x 12 - 20' Pine S1S2E for Slain Street CJharf Balboa, the Board in
open_ session opened, examined and declared all sealed bids received,
w,ich bids are as follows:
L. t:. Blinn Lumber Co. of Los Angeles, - - 1;225.00
Inasmuch as only 16 foot plank are necessary on motion of
Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee 0. H. Burke and carried,
all bids were rejected.
On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee 0. 11. ,
Eurke and carried, the Street Committee and Street Superintendent vier
authorized to go in the open market and purchase the lumber.
ORDINAhTCE NO. 182.
"Ab Ordinance of the Cite of Necrport Beach providing
for the appointment of a building- inspector and assistant
building inspectors and prescribing rules and regulations
governing the erection of buildings in he City of Ne,..portl
Beach, and providing a penalty for all violations thereof,'
came up for final action., was read and considered; the
roll was called and the Ordinance was passed by the vote of the
following named members of the Board of Trustees:
Ayes, Trustees J. P. Greeley, J. J. Schnitker, Conrad Richter,
0. I;. Burke.
Noes, Trustee Geo. P. Wilson,
Absent, Trustees Yone.
Ordinance -No. 182 having been passed by the vote of tiro- thirds
and more of all the members of the Board of Trustees, was signed and
approved by the President thei -eof.
A communication Prom the Women's Civic League accompanying
a design of the Public Park as they would like to have it, was presented,
and on motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee 0. If '
Burke and carried, the Bo -rd of Trustees expressed their hearty and
moral support to the scheme, and the Park Committee of the Board aas
continued.
RESOLUTION NO. 155.
A Resolutio: of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Fewport Beach adopting a certain plan and profile for the improvement
of certain portions of Ocean Avenue in said City.
On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Ge .
P. Wilson the foregoing Resolution was adopted by the follo; ring vote,1to -wit:

RESOLUTIOI? I'0. 156.
A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Newpor
Beach declaring their intention to order the improvement of
certain portions of Ocean Avenue, and to change the grade of
certain portions thereof under the Improvement Act o.`' 1911.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee J.
Schnitker the foregoing Resolution_ was adopted by the following vote,

City Engineer Kressly presented the plan and profile of the

e City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on the work and
terial necessary for the proposed water works extenston, the same

The communication from C. R. Chapmen in regard to vacating
one strips in Section 5 of Balboa Island was laid over for
nvestigation.
On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee 0.Tr
urke and carried, that demands No. 628 to 720 inclusive having been
igned and approved by the Finance Committee, be alloyed cord warrrnts

On motion of Trustee Geo. P. PJilson seconded by Trustee O. TT.
and carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P. on
