City Hall, Newport Beach, January 19,1025.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach riet in regular
session on the above date. The meeting Was called to order by Pres. Ueo.
P.wilson, The -roll was called showing the full board present. The minutes
of the previous meeting -acre read and approved. Communications w ere
read and referred.to the proper order of business.
This being the time fixed for a public hearing on the question of
a zone concerning the drilling for oil in the city of Newport Beach and for
which notice had been duly given, the Board of Trustees of t}ie City* of
Neq -)ort Beach took the matter up for consideration. All persons present
and the general public were given opportunity to be 'Zeard. On notion of
Trustee Yound seconded by trustee '.7ilkinson and roll call duly carried
the matter ,,ias referred to a joint meeting between the Board of Trustees
and the city Planning commission, and continued to Eonday Jan.26,1925.
City Attorney Bishop read the lease drawn upm for the
landing on the Neqnort Pier. After some discussion, upon motion of Trust -e
Sloan seconded by Trustee Richter and carried, *t 'e city Attorney was ordered
to drag un t'ie lease as read and the President and Clerk of the Board of
Trustees were authorized to sign the lease.
Trustee "ilizinson broug3rt the matter of payments on certain
properties by ze city and the clerk was ordered to prepare a calendar
shoving rr:ren the pa:,.,icnts rc'e due.
On notion of trustee Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee Young, and
.carried, the Clerk was instructed to adv= :rtise for bids on City printing,
bids to be received up to 7:30 o1clockP.11. Feb. 9,1925. The Board of
Trustees reserving the right to reject any or all bids.

was read and upon call of the roll- passed by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees, Geo.P.'i;ilson, H.C.Sloan, Conrad Richter,Fred
Young, and L.S.77ilkinson.
Noes: Truatees, None,
Absent: Trustees, None.
On motion of Trustee Sloan, seconded by trustee Young, and
carried, Li;ense No.215 .ias allowed transferred from ".E.-Fredericks
(deceased) to Ii.i .17essling.
A commiuiication from the League of California i.un.lcipaJ -ities
regarding the :)minting of proposed bills for general distribution tve.s read
and ordered filed.
A petition signed by property owners of Balboa Island requesting
street lig'-?ts and concrete lamp poste ssas ready discussed and oil notion
of trustee - :iilkinson, seconded by trustee Sloan ant.. ca ried, the city
engineer eras instructed to prepare proceedings for the work described in
'
the petition.
A communication was read from the Newport Harbor Yacht Club
thanl:.ing the city throug'n the Board of Trustees, for their co- oneration
and assisstance rendered in the interests of yach -ing in Ne,xport H,.rbor
during the past ;;ear'. Thereupon,-on motion of trustee Wil1•.inson seconded
by trustee Sloan, and carried, the communication was ordered filed 1-nd t'e
Clerk instructed to acknowledge receipt of same.
Upon receipt of a communication from the builders exchange
and having had a representative of th -t body explain theft proposition
on motion of trustee Sloan seconded by trustee Richter, and carried,
i` was agreed that the city would stand t'aeir portion of the cost of draftin-,
a building rode proposed by the builders excha,ge, cost not to exceed 5;100.00

In the matter of davits on the Newport pier for life boats,
Resident Engineer S.A.Cundiff sub:aitted a report on the cost as requested.
LIr. Levi II.71allace suggested that the Red Cross Life Saving Corps be
interviewed as to the possibility of obtaining davits from that body.
On motion of trustee 71i1?:inson, seconded by trustee Sloan, and carried,
it was ordered that the matter be taken up with Mr.Dera�la to see what
could be done.
On motion of trustee Sloan seconded by trustee Young and
carried, demands were allowed as ap-)roved by the finance committee and
warrants ordered drawn. '
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
to January 26,1925, T;Ionday,7:30 P.T,I.

President Geo.P.7ilson, The roll was called showing the full Board
present. The minutes of the previous meeting mere read and approved. The
coin unications were read and Deferred to the pooper order of business
The report of the joint meeting of the Board of Trustees and City Planning
Co:nJnission was read and the matter having been discussed was referred to
City Attorney for final drafting of the ordinance.
Trustee Sloan introduced a resolution entitled as follows:

The Resolution was ordered filed, read, considered, de-
signated RESOLUTIONd ?:0.;,318, and referred to the city attorney.

This being the time fixed by Resolution of Intention No.312 '
passed January 5th, 1925, for hearing protests in the matter of the
improvement therein described, and no written protests having been
filed with the City Clerk in said matter, and no persons desiring
to be heard in the matter of said protests, whereupon Trustee Sloan
