HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/03/1928 - Regular Meeting62 This being the time fixed by Resolution of Intention No. 477, pasced and adopted on the 5th day of November, 1925, for hearing protests in the matter of the improvement therein described, and certain written protests having been filed with the City Clerk in said matter, all of said protests were presented to and considered by the City Council, and all persons desiring to be heard in the matter of said protests were heard by said Council, WHEREUPON Councilman Claire moved that RESOLUTION N0. 4772 entitled. A RESOLUTION OVER- RULING PROTESTS IN THE KATTER OF THE • IITROVEmEN:T OF CERTAIN POY.TIO ?S OF ;ARINE AVENUE AND PARK AVENUE AND CERTAIN UNPAVED PUBLIC RIGHTS -OF -WAY WITHIX THE CITY OF NE;PORT BEACH, be adopted, which motion was seconded by Councilman Hilmer and upon call of the•roll passed by the following vote: AYES, Councilmen Hilmer, Claire, Ellsworth, 11illiamson, Johnson. NOES, Councilmen None. ABSErT, Councilman None. Councilman Harry H. ldilliamson introduced a.Resolution entitled: RESOLUTION ORDERING ;FORK. The Resolution was read., considered, designated RESOLUTION No. 476 and upon call of the roll was passed by the following vote: AYES, Councilmen Hilmer, Claire, Ellsworth, Yfilliamson, Johnson. NOES., Councilmen None. ABSENT) Councilmen None. City Engineer Patterson presented a ;dap from the La Habra Val]Bey Land & Slater Co. and which called for the vacation of certain streets on Net:port Heights. The matter was discussed and on motion of Councilman Williamson seconded by Councilman Claire and carried, it was referred to the Planning Commission for their approval. City Engineer Patterson also suggested the advisability of having a medium sized map of the City which is needed very badly at times, and rhich could be gotten out when his men are not busy with other work. The matter was considered and on motion of Councilman Claire seconded by Councilman Ellsworth and carried, the City Engineer was authorized to get out such a map as he desired.. There being; no further business.on motion of Councilman Claire seconded by Councilman Hilmer and carried, the meeting adjourned Sine Die. Approved Dec. 3, 1925. mayor, CitVoV Newport Beach. City Clerk. City Hall., Newport Beach, Dec. 3, 1925. The City Council of the City of Newport Beach met in regular session at 7:30 o'clock P. H. on above date. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The roll was called showing the full Council present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. The reports of the 'reads of the departments were read, and on motion of Councilman Claire seconded by Councilman Ellsworth and carried, the reports were accepted and filed. As the City Clerk was absent on account of sickness layor Johnson appointed Councilman Williamson Clerk pro tem. City Engineer Patterson reported on the crossing at the Arches, that he with Nat Neff from the County had made a survey and are now making a map to submit with a report to this Board and to the State of California., as a means of correcting the conc.itions existing at this corner. Councilman Claire asked for more time go make his report on the erection of a signal mast at the jetty, which was granted. . Councilman Ellsworth made a report of erecting signs and repair of the crossing at 21st Street, Neti°,port Beach, and the matter was turned. over to the Street Committee- Ma 63 More time was granted the Street Committee in regard to the toilets on the end of the Newport pier asked for by J. H. Estue. City Engineer Patterson was granted more time to report on the location of the gas line by the Southern Counties Gas Co. in front of the Estus building. The communication from J. K. Smith asking a refur_d of $350.60 .on head tax paid in tothe City, was considered, and on motion of Councilman Claire seconded by Councilman Ellsworth and carried, the matter was referred to the City Attorney for a report. Mayor Johnson also stated he had some information in regard to the matter for the City Attorney. On motion of Councilman Ellsworth seconded by Councilman Claire ' and carried, the request of the Newport Harbor Chamber of Commerce for appropriations for advertising from Dec. 15th to January 15th amounting to $450.00 was granted. On motion of Councilman Claire seconded by Councilman Ellsworth and - carried, the communication from H. A. Lafount of the Federal Radio Commission at Washington, was filed. NEW BUSINESS. On motion of Councilman Hilmer seconded by Councilman Claire and carried, the demands which were in proper form and signed and approved by the Fimance Committee, were allowed and warrants to be drawn for same. A Contract from the Western Wholesale Drug Co. for supplying Chlorine gas to the City was presented, -and on motion of Councilman Claire seconded by Councilman Hilmer and carried, the contract was referred to the City Attorney for approval. A 1&p of Tract No. 919 was presented and considered, and on motion of Councilman Claire seconded by Councilman Ellsworth and carried, the Map was tentatively approved. Councilman Hermann Hilmer introduced a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING THEIR.INTENTION TO VACATE, CLOSE -UP AND ABANDON FOR PUBLIC STREET PURPOSES A CERTAIN PORTION OF OCEAN DRIVE; A CERTAIN PORTION OF TUSTIN AVENUE; A CERTAIN ' PORTION OF 10TH STREET; A CERTAIN PORTION OF FULLERTON AVENUE; A CERTAIN PORTION OF IRVINE AVENUE; CERTAIN ALLEYS AND CERTAIN PORTIONS OF ALLEYS WITHIN THE SAID CITY. The Resolution was read, considered, designated RESOLUTION NO. 479, and upon call of the roll passed by the following vote: AYES, Councilmen Hilmer, Claire, Ellsworth, Williamson, Johnson. NOES °, Councilmen None. ABSENT, Councilmen None. It was reported that the new Zoning Map of the City would be on exhibition next Monday night. There being no further business on motion of Councilman Claire seconded by Councilman Ellsworth and carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P. M. on Monday, December 10, 1928. The City Council of the City of Newport Beach met in regular adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on above date. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The roll was called showing all members present except Councilman Williamson who came in later. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. Councilman Claire stated he was not satisfied with the price of the signal mast for the jetty and he was granted more time to investigate it.
