Media Lab Update Staff will update the Board on the Media and Sound Lab at Central Library. Library Services Manager Natalie Basmaciyan reported the Media Lab is comprised of two labs, one for sound recording and one for computer workstations. Donations from the Newport Beach Public Library Foundation fund purchases of software and hardware for the Media Lab and new services through the Tech Toys program. The Media Lab is now open Monday through Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday noon to 4:00 p.m. In addition, the length of a Sound Lab session has changed from four hours to two hours. With this change, more people have access to the Sound Lab. MAC workstations have logged 1,628 sessions, and PC workstations have logged 2,852 sessions. The Sound Lab has logged 737 sessions. Library Assistant Greg Johnson made recommendations for the initial hardware and software purchases, provides technology training for Library staff, and coordinates software updates with City Information Technology (IT) staff. Adult Services Coordinator Rebecca Lightfoot has identified new and different methods to train the public, including working with the public at the OASIS Senior Center and City Hall. 7. Wi-Fi Usage at NBPL Compared to Other Libraries Staff will report on public Wi-Fi usage in Newport Beach Public Library and in our statistical and regional peers. Library Services Director Tim Hetherton advised that the public now expects Wi-Fi service in public facilities, especially in the Library as its business is information. Free Wi-Fi service is compatible with the Library's policy of inclusion. Patrons would complain if the 5 Board of Library Trustees Meeting Minutes May 20, 2019 Page 3 Library did not offer Wi-Fi. Staff believes the Library should continue to offer free Wi-Fi service. In reply to Board Members' questions, Library Services Director Hetherton explained that staff considered returning to authentication to limit the number of Wi-Fi users at any one time. However, eliminating Wi-Fi service could alienate patrons. In the summer of 2018, the number of users sometimes exceeded capacity for a few minutes. Staff purchased additional licenses, which remedied the problem. Currently, Wi-Fi service begins an hour before the Library opens and ends an hour after closing at each location. Staff does not recommend offering service 24/7 because it invites people to stay overnight in the courtyard. Currently, a patron can open his device, search for the Newport Beach Public Library Wi-Fi connection, and connect without a password or library card. The Library's Wi-Fi Policy explains that the network is not secure. The City has approximately 270 licenses systemwide. In response to Jim Mosher's question, Library Services Director Hetherton explained that the Library purchased CASSIE software to manage the public computers. CASSIE has a complementary program for Wi-Fi called SPOT. Staff purchases Wi-Fi licenses from CASSIE to access SPOT. CENIC, the City's software, provides high-speed access to research networks. 8. Corona del Mar Branch Project Update Staff will update the Board on the Corona del Mar Branch Library replacement project. Library Services Director Hetherton indicated staff may begin moving into the Branch at the beginning of July. The Grand Opening is scheduled for July 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The contract end date for the project is June 16. Everything has been ordered and will be shipped to the Branch. Circulation & Technical Processing Coordinator Melissa Hartson related that a vendor is processing, packaging, and holding materials for the Opening Day Collection until it receives a delivery date from staff. [The Board of Library Trustees proceeded to Item VI.A.10 and returned to Item VI.A.9.] 9. Lecture Hall Update Trustee Johnson-Tucker will update the Board on activities related to building a lecture hall facility on the Central Library site. Board Member Johnson-Tucker reported the Request for Proposal (RFP) is in the final stage of review and approval and may be released the following week. Nine architects have been selected to receive notice that the RFP is available. A site visit is scheduled for mid-June with responses due three weeks later. During its first meeting in June, the City Council will decide whether to fund the architect's work. The Mayor will probably appoint a committee to review responses to the RFP. Vice Chair Watkins requested Board Member Johnson-Tucker provide reports regarding the progress of the Lecture Hall for future meetings of the Board of Library Trustees. 6 Board of Library Trustees Meeting Minutes May 20, 2019 Page 4 10. Library Services Report of Library issues regarding services, customers, and staff. Library Services Director Hetherton noted the Newport/Mesa ProLiteracy's Gift of Literacy lunch was great. Author Lisa See introduced her new book, and Candace Kirby, a ProLiteracy learner, shared the impacts the program has made on her life. The Library's Volunteer appreciation event, scheduled for July 10 from 10:00 a.m. to noon, should be added to the Wheelhouse List. Board Members are invited to attend. On June 11, an item regarding the policy for the Friends Room will be on the City Council's consent calendar. Newport Beach Public Library's 25th Anniversary Celebration will be July 11. The Newport Beach Art Exhibition on June 15 will be followed by the first Concert on the Green featuring "The Side Deal" on June 16. The Grand Opening of the Sculpture Exhibition in Civic Center Park will be June 22. B. Monthly Reports 11. Friends of the Library Liaison Report Trustee update of the most recently attended Friends of the Library Board meeting. Board Member Coulter reported the Friends are holding their Annual Membership luncheon on June 11. During the luncheon, the Friends will present a check for $185,000 to the Newport Beach Public Library and another check for $5,000 to Newport/Mesa ProLiteracy. The group is working on ways to increase the use of gift cards. In April, the Friends earned $16,863 from bookstore and Amazon sales and member dues. The 50- percent sale raised $1,824 from sales and $720 from memberships. The Friends will be selling art books at the Newport Beach Art Exhibition on June 15. 12. Library Foundation Liaison Report Trustee update of the most recently attended Library Foundation Board meeting. Library Services Manager Basmaciyan reported she attended the most recent meeting to review the Library's Wish List with the Foundation. Karen Clark and Dorothy Larson, Newport Beach Public Library Foundation Board Members, advised that all Foundation programs are complete, and they were successful. The reception for Library Live sponsors has been expanded and moved to a private home. Foundation CEO Meg Linton has taken leave to do research for her novel. The Foundation is working on obtaining new members and sponsorships and budgeting. 13. Witte Lectures Committee Liaison Report Trustee update of the most recently attended Witte Lectures Committee's monthly meeting. Board Member Kost indicated the Witte Lectures Committee held a breakfast to finalize the season. Three speakers have been signed for the upcoming season. 7 Board of Library Trustees Meeting Minutes May 20, 2019 Page 5 14. Literacy Services Liaison Report Trustee update of the most recently attended Literacy Services Advisory Board meeting. Vice Chair Watkins announced the Gift for Literacy luncheon raised $26,708. The Advisory Board has $386,000 in funds. A luncheon for International Day of Literacy will be held in September. 15. Library Live Lectures Liaison Report Trustee update of the most recently attended Library Live Lectures Committee's meeting. Chair Ray reported Library Services Director Hetherton and she met with the Foundation Program Director Kunga Wangmo to discuss programming. VII. PUBLIC COMMENTS ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS Jim Mosher noted Orange County will be opening a new library in Costa Mesa. The Library Sound Lab Policy needs to be revised because it indicates patrons can sign up for sessions of four hours. Perhaps the Library would be interested in food programs by the Newport Restaurant Business Improvement District. VIII. The computer systems and the staff - all delightful, respectful, and most helpful. There is so much provided and I wish I would have accessed the Mac computer more often. Love your play area, but hate to see every kid glued to the computer screen, playing games, ignoring each other. This is killing any curiosity, interest in books or possibility of human contact. Do, do, do please remove computers with games from the children's play and reading area! Thank you for your attention. I am glad that you like the play area in the Children’s Room. I do appreciate your concerns regarding the computers at the front of the room, but we do not plan to remove them at this time. It is the goal of the Newport Beach Public Library to provide a variety of resources to our Library Patrons and many of those visiting the Children’s Room do enjoy using the computers for the games and online resources we provide for pleasure and study. The rest of the room including the play area provide a screen-free zone for those patrons who choose not to use the computers. We appreciate your use of the Library. The good news is that if all goes as planned the new CDM Library will be open by mid-July with a grand opening ceremony planned for 10:30 am on Saturday, July 20. As a reminder, if the Central Parking lot is full there is additional parking available in the parking structure across from City Hall. In terms of People Magazine, all branches have a subscription to People Magazine (the new CDM Branch will have one also) and older copies may be checked out from any location. You may also download People Magazine at no charge onto your computer or mobile device using Flipster our digital magazine service. If you have any questions regarding how to use this service please don’t hesitate to contact the Reference Staff. We do appreciate your use of the Library. Thank you so much for your kind words about the library. We strive to provide excellent customer service, and I’m so glad we are meeting your expectations. I’m pleased staff has been helpful and that our computer area has been useful. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything else I can help you with. Thank you. It's nice, but I am waiting for CDM branch to reopen. Your parking lot is always too full. Need extra copy of People magazine. Thank you for thinking of the library for your book donations. Yes, our Friends of the Library will accept book donations. Feel free to drop off your donations at any library location during normal business hours, and we will make sure they get to the Friends. You can read more about the process here: https://www.newportbeachlibrary.org/about/friends-of-the- library/book-donations-18097. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. It's the best program ever offered. It needs to be continued. It's a great educational service that was provided. Thank you for taking the time to complete a comment card for the Newport Beach Public Library regarding the Beyond the Canvas lectures. The series concluded its 5-year run after the May 2019 lecture. Staff has limited resources to host myriad events for the community, such as opera and ballet programs. Professor Hahn is in contact with the OASIS Senior Center to see if she may host the lectures there in the near future. Thank you for the feedback about her lectures and please let me know if I may be of further assistance. Are there study rooms available inside the library? If so, is it possible to reserve them? Thank you for inquiring about the study rooms. Yes, the Central library has three group study rooms that check out to groups of two or more for two hour blocks. You do need a valid NBPL card in order to check out a room. Reservations are made same day, in person only, upstairs at the reference desk. There is more information about the study rooms on our website here: https://www.newportbeachlibrary.org/services/study-meeting-rooms. I hope that answers your question! Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Thank you. I think there's a way to read current LA Times newspapers but when I go to ProQuest and search for LA Times I get one million or more items and they are all old not current. So, for instance, is it possible for me to read today's newspaper, either Orange County Register or LA Times? A patron left a message for library administration to complain about the air conditioning ducts and the air quality on the second floor of the library. She cited the café area as an example of a problem area. She feels the poor air quality is creating a hardship for many people and that we really need to address this problem. A voicemail was left for this patron to acknowledge her concern and let her know we are looking into remedying this situation. Yes, you can read the current L.A. Time and Orange County Register through ProQuest. After you have logged in through the library’s website, click on “Publications” on the top under the blue- green bar. Search for “los angeles times” as a title, and the first result is the link you want. Click on that and you will see a page that will allow you to browse specific issues. If you open up 2019, you will see the most current issues, including today’s. I hope that helps answer your question! Please feel free to stop by the library or give us a call if you need any additional help. The phone number is 949- 717-3800 option 2 for reference. Thank you. 10 MAY 2019 Comment # Date Received Source of Comment Staff Member Staff Member Title Date Responded to Customer NEWPORT BEACH PUBLIC LIBRARY CUSTOMER COMMENTS OCTOBER 2018 COMMENT RESPONSE 9 5/2019 Comment Card Debbie Walker Youth & Branch Services Coordinator 6/3/2019 Please remove the computers from toddler play area! So unnecessary and only serve as a distraction from reading! Surely you all know the harms of electronics at such a young age. I received your comment card regarding computers in the Children’s Room. The Newport Beach Public Library strives to provide resources for all of our patrons and many of the families who use the Children’s area do enjoy the use of those computers which provide many educational and fun games without the concern of being connected to the internet. So at this time there are no immediate plans to remove the AWE stations in that area. The “green” expansion area has given us the opportunity to provide many non-technological experiences as well with the puzzles, board books, blocks, puppets, magnets and many other manipulatives we have for play. We do appreciate your use of the Library and that you took the time to voice your concern. 11 NEWPORT BEACH PUBLIC LIBRARY To: Board of Library Trustees From: Tim Hetherton, Library Services Director Re: Report of Library Activities – June 17, 2019 Meeting ______________________________________________________________________ TIM HETHERTON, LIBRARY SERVICES DIRECTOR “Libraries are not made; they grow. Good as it is to inherit a library, it is better to collect one.” ― Augustine Birrell Trustee Jill Johnson-Tucker I would like to take this opportunity to thank Trustee Jill Johnson-Tucker for her service to the Library and the City of Newport Beach. Jill was appointed to the Board in 2011. I remember that prior to her appointment, she would attend BLT meetings with Mrs. Stahr, doing her homework. She requested a meeting and a tour, and former Director Cynthia Cowell asked me to show her the Central Library. I recall not only her genuine interest in our profession and the work processes associated with public library services, but her love of books and learning. Jill had a vision, that someday, the Central Library campus would include a lecture hall. Jill worked hard to make this happen: advocating for the project with Council members, planning with key City staff, and collaborating with our support groups. These efforts culminated in Jill’s winning presentation last February, resulting in City Council authorizing a Request for Proposals for the Library Lecture Hall Building Project Design. Jill served as Chair four times during her tenure, during which she staunchly advocated for the public. She leaves the organization a better place, more responsive to patrons with well-considered policies and services, with an emphasis on inclusion, equity, and accessibility. Jill will be missed not just for her deft leadership and keen intellect, but also for her sense of public service and belief in public libraries. Wish List gifts NBPL’s two stellar support groups, the Newport Beach Library Foundation, and the Friends of the Library, each made their annual gift to the Library in May. The Foundation Board approved a gift of $155,000.00, and the Friends presented a check for $185,000.00 at their annual luncheon on Tuesday, June 11. The crew will be completing the resurfacing of the wooden doors in the coming weeks and touching up some painting areas. The exterior lighting at the Mariners branch library have been repaired and enhanced. The in-ground lights in front of the Jorgenson Room are now properly illuminated. The Utilities staff added new LED lights to two exterior light poles in the parking lot to illuminate the areas closest to the school. The trees closest to the school are scheduled to be trimmed to provide more light from the new lights. The mold abatement work at the Balboa branch library was completed this month. The industrial hygienist recertified the building as mold-free. The next step involves having the two ceiling holes patched and painting the entire ceiling. Staffing Literacy Coordinator Cherall Weiss conducted interviews for the Department Assistant/Part Time position vacancy in her department. The HR department is completing the background checks for the selected candidate. DEBBIE WALKER, BRANCH AND YOUTH SERVICES COORDINATOR Branches Much of the month was spent planning and preparing for SRP which begins on Saturday, June 22. Craft programs for May offered at the branches (Butterflies and Blooms at Balboa, Mother’s Day crafts at Mariners) were popular and well attended. Construction continued at a somewhat faster rate on the new CDM Library/Fire Station with less rainy days to contend with. The target for opening is still July with the Grand 13 Opening scheduled for Saturday, July 20. With the branch hours determined Annika has been able to work out a personnel schedule that includes Daisy Hernandez as PT Library Assistant, Devon Hunt as Page and the clerk positions rotating throughout the week. Youth Services Chris Hennigan, full-time Library Assistant in Adult Reference assisted Liz with a poetry program held on Tuesday, May 21. Painting in all areas of the Children’s Room made it necessary at one point to remove all of the items and shelving on the long fiction wall. Thanks to members of the Circ and Adult Reference staff for pitching in to help make this happen in a timely manner and not delaying the painting project. Teen Services On Wednesday, May 1, Annika, Melinda, Danielle and myself hosted a Teen Volunteer Information Session in the Friends Room at Central from 7 – 8 pm. At least 35 teens and 28 adults came and heard all about the volunteer opportunities available for the summer and beyond, background checks for teens age 14 and older, volunteer scheduling, etc. A second Volunteer informational meeting was held on May 4 at Mariners and hosted by Annika and Janice. YAAC met on May 8th with all hands on deck pitching in and stuffing almost 300 SRP goodie bags that will be given out when teens sign up for SRP. The help was much appreciated. MELISSA HARTSON, CIRCULATION & TECHNICAL PROCESSING COORDINATOR Staffing As reported last month, we continue to work with HR to hire a Page. The current candidate is completing pre-employment paperwork and background and fitness checks. REBECCA LIGHTFOOT, ADULT SERVICES COORDINATOR Volunteers Library Assistant Danielle Doi helped Children’s staff with a Volunteer Information Session on May 1. Over 30 new volunteers signed up to assist with the Summer Reading Program. Collections Librarian Alex Jenkins moved the Graphic Novels to a more visible location at the Central Library. Programming Library Assistant Chris Hennigan helped Children’s Librarian Liz Aaron with a poetry program. Approval Youth Services Update 21 _____________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT: The Library budget for fiscal year 2018-2019 was approved by City Council in the amount of $8,776,320. Throughout the year, this bottom-line figure has increased by the addition of donations and grants to the Library. These added funds have increased the Library’s budget by $501,159 to a total of $9,277,479. DISCUSSION: The Library’s Materials and Operations Budget is amended when we receive funds from grants, donations and gifts. Most of the additional funding is received from the Friends of the Newport Beach Library (FOL) and the Newport Beach Public Library Foundation (NBPLF). In this past year, the FOL added $291,378 to fund materials, programming and the Corona del Mar Branch opening. The NBPLF added $153,125 to cover “wish list” items. Another area of the Library’s budget that is substantially altered from the initial budget to the year-end is in the Library Literacy Program. The initial 2018-2019 budget allocation for the Program was $42,680, which covers about 40% of the cost to operate the program. The balance of the funding for this comes from the California Library Literacy Services (CLLS) Grant and Newport/Mesa ProLiteracy (NMPL) fundraising and donations. The CLLS Grant for 2018-2019 totaled $41,666. Funds from NMPL equaled $20,000. The current expenditure budget for Literacy is now $109,345, which includes allocations from the Library Foundation. This year the Library also received $525 in private donations and a $4,465 Santiago Library System Grant to purchase library materials. There was one internal adjustment of $9,908 to this year’s library budget. This was a decrease to janitorial services with the implementation of the City’s new janitorial services contract. The attached spreadsheet shows the accounts into which these additional funds were allocated to cover expenditures. Please note that the figures in this report do not include the annual budget for the Cultural Arts division nor do they include donated funds rolled over from the previous year. NOTICING: This agenda item has been noticed according to the Brown Act (72 hours in advance of the meeting at which the Board of Library Trustees considers the item). In October of 2018, Rebecca Lightfoot was promoted to Adult Services Coordinator, taking the helm from Library Services Natalie Basmaciyan. Librarian Nadia Dallstream and Technical Processing Clerk Claire Leach both earned promotions to Librarian II. Librarian Alex Jenkins transferred from Mariners to Central, and Library Assistant Laurie Sanders earned a promotion to Librarian and transferred from Balboa. Finally, part time Library Assistant Danielle Doi earned the promotion to full time Library Assistant, and the library is currently recruiting for four part time assistants due to resignations and promotions. Library patrons consult staff at service desks throughout the system for assistance in locating information. Using a structured reference interview, the librarian works with the patron to clarify their needs and determine what information sources will match their need. Assistance provided may consist of reading material in the form of a book or journal article, instruction in the use of specific searchable information resources such as the library's online catalog or subscription databases, or information drawn from the library's print or eBranch collections. The reference desk can be accessed either in person, by telephone, or through email. A staffed and knowledgeable reference desk is an essential part of any public library and is an important element of NBPL’s strong customer service orientation. Programming In addition to popular author events, the Adult Services department offered an Open House in September of 2018 to City Hall, signing employees up for library cards and explaining all the wonderful offerings available. Staff is planning to visit City Hall for a “Let’s Talk Tech” event, where staff can work one on one or in small groups to highlight the library’s many downloadable offerings. “Let’s Talk Tech” events have been held at the Oasis Senior Center and the Mariners Library, and more offsite events are planned. Staff is working to increase outreach opportunities, such as attending the Orange County Children’s Book Festival last September. In house programming has been well attended2018’s Digital Saturday event had approximately 450 people in attendance. This year’s Digital Saturday will be held November 16 and will feature OverDrive’s Digital Bookmobile. Staff is also working on a proposal to hold more technology classes and training sessions, based on customer requests. Training and Professional Development The Newport Beach Public Library believes strongly in training and staff development, and offers a wide variety of opportunities for staff to learn new skills and grow as professionals. Throughout the year, Reference staff members have attended online training sessions and multi-week classes, participated in workshops and day long training sessions, and attended conferences. Librarian Laurie Sanders will attend the American Library Association’s annual conference in June. NOTICING This agenda item has been noticed according to the Brown Act (72 hours in advance of the meeting at which the Board of Library Trustees considers the item). 25 Dating back to the mid-1940’s and eventually moving into a 2,000 square foot building on Marigold Avenue back in 1952, the Library in Corona del Mar has long been treasured by the community. Though the Library underwent updates and additions over the years, it was thanks to strong local support and a recommendation by the Board of Library Trustees that led to City approved plans for a complete redesign and the old CdM Library officially closed its doors on March 17, 2018. A groundbreaking for the new CdM Library was held on April 10, 2018 and demolition began shortly thereafter. The new CdM Library is currently undergoing full reconstruction and will re-open in July 2019 as a combined library and fire station with approximately 3,800 square feet apportioned to the Library. A Grand Opening Ceremony in coordination with City Council, City Manager, Fire Department, Public Works, and Library Departments is scheduled for July 20, 2019 at 10:30am. Personnel Upon re-opening in July, Annika Helmuth, Librarian II, will remain Branch Librarian. Additionally, Library Assistant Daisy Hernandez and Library Page Devon Hunt will be assigned to the CdM Library with rotating Clerk coverage. Public Service Circulation and Reference Services The Corona del Mar service population is approximately 13,000. Though the CdM Library has been closed this past year, we continue to serve the CdM community with off-site concierge service at the Oasis Senior Center as well as with a relocated book drop in the parking lot on 5th Avenue. Both have proven welcomed and convenient places for CdM residents to pick up and drop off materials. Upon Board of Library Trustee approval in March 2019, the CdM Library will re-open with new service hours. The CdM Library will add Monday service hours and no longer be open in the evenings. The new hours are as follows: Monday through Saturday, 9am - 6pm. TO: BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES FROM: Library Services Department Tim Hetherton, Library Services Director 949-717-3810, thetherton@newportbeachca.gov PREPARED BY: Annika Helmuth, Corona del Mar Librarian TITLE: Corona del Mar Library Report June 2018 – June 2019 26 Program Attendance A large portion of the CdM Library service population includes young children and caregivers. Children’s programming, and in particular weekly storytimes, have always been well attended. During reconstruction, staff ensured these storytimes would continue for the community by relocating services to the Grant Howald Community Youth Center (CYC) at 5th and Iris. Storytimes at CYC were held each week from April 2018 through June 2019 with a Books and Babies Storytime on Tuesdays and a Preschool storytime on Thursdays. Each of these storytimes continued to be well-attended and appreciated throughout the reconstruction process. During the closure period, we hosted almost 4,500 storytime participants in total. The graph below shows storytime attendance at CYC as compared to the previous year at the old CdM Library. Each location takes a two-week storytime break in June and August. Songs and Stories, a weekly CdM children’s program was relocated to the Central Library due to crowd limitations at CYC. Within the span of 13 months (April 2018-May 2018), Songs and Stories amassed almost 5,000 participants. Outreach During the CdM Library closure, Branch Librarian Helmuth continued outreach within the Corona del Mar community by attending the Annual Corona del Mar Christmas Walk in December 2018 as well as the Annual Corona del Mar Residents Association Exposition in April 2019. Each event presented an opportunity to speak to community members and advocate additional library services, resources, and programs. Over 1,200 walkers stopped by the Library’s outreach table at the Christmas Walk and approximately 50 residents spoke with library staff during the Annual Expo at Sherman Gardens. 0 100 200 300 400 500 600 Storytime Attendence by Month July 2017 -June 2019 2017 2018 2019 27 Collection Maintenance Upon closing in March 2018, all Corona del Mar collection materials were either sent to other library locations, stored for future use, or sold at a special on-site Friends of the Library blow-out book sale. In thanks to this book sale and a generous donation from the Friends of the Library, the new CdM Library will open with a brand new collection hand-selected by designated librarians. A total of 9,179 items have been ordered and/or stored for the Opening Day Collection and staff is working closely with vendors to ensure appropriate and well-executed delivery of items on-site prior to opening. Reference and circulation staff are also working closely to ensure shelving layouts and collection items will be cohesive, attractive, and valuable to staff and customers alike. Reconstruction Update – June 2019 Light fixtures and wall paint are complete while work continues on flooring and wall graphics. The parking lot will be finished in the coming weeks, concrete has been smoothed for curbs, sidewalks, and driveways, and pavers for the reading porch have been installed. The two pictures below show one of five wall graphics and progress on exterior stone and paver work, respectively. Furniture and shelving installations are anticipated by the end of the month along with cabinets, countertops, and final touches. Comments The residents of Corona del Mar are very proud of their library and it is humbling to have the opportunity to continue to serve this community with a brand-new library to be loved for years to come. We are excited to expand on children’s programming, as these events have proven to be popular time and time again, as well as offer a pristine and popular-use collection of materials. It has been a momentous year full of change and transition and we are excited to see what the future holds for the new Corona del Mar Library. 28 NOTICING: This agenda item has been noticed according to the Brown Act (72 hours in advance of the meeting at which the Board of Library Trustees considers the item). 29
