D-1 FROM: Business License Supervisor SUBJECT: OFFICIAL POLICE TOW SERVICE CONTRACT RECOMMENDED ACTION: AUTHORIZE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH G&W TOWING INC. AS AN OFFICIAL POLICE TOW TRUCK OPERATOR. BACKGROUND: Section 5.15 of the Municipal Code requires the City Council to designate two official tow truck services within the City. The official Police tow truck services are on-call, on a weekly rotational basis, for any Police emergency situation where a tow truck is required. Service agreements between the two Police tow services and the City are executed for a two year period, with one contract expiring each year. The bid period was closed on December 29,1987 with G&W Towing Inc. submitting the only bid. On January 16,1987 the Police Department conducted inspections on the twelve vehicles G&W intends to operate, and found the vehicles as well as the facility to be in good condition and comply with the provisions of 5.15 M.C.
