HomeMy WebLinkAbout00 - Non-Agenda ItemReceived After Agenda Printed Dec. 4, 2020 December 8, 2020 Non -Agenda Item Public Comment on Meals on Wheels & Styrofoam by Hoiyin Ip Dear City Council, In June, I made a public comment on Meals on Wheels's Styrofoam containers, and asked Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente to talk to them for eco -friendly packaging. I know Dana Pont and San Clemente no longer get Styrofoam. I've not heard from Newport Beach. Now, Meals on Wheels is featured by Stu News's Spotlight on Philanthropy, with this picture. This meal comes with a Styrofoam container on a Styrofoam tray wrapped in unrecyclable single -use plastic film. 40 Asi66. It may be an old picture. I hope the packaging is improved. Can it be made sure? BTW this picture is from Food Packaging Forum's study about the chemicals used. Meals on Wheels and their patrons may want to know it.
