BICYCLE TRAILS CITIZENS" ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF MEETING OF JULY 5, 1994
The meeting was called to order at the Police Facility at 870 Santa
Barbara Drive at 7:15 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Randy Johnson, Val Skoro, Joann
Lombardo, Michael Kranzley, Paul
Watkins, Burt Field, Cindy Gittleman, Joe
De Carlo.
POLICE DEPARTMENT: Ed Walsh, Karen Weigand (Guest)
CITY COUNCIL: Evelyn Hart
PUBLIC WORKS: Steve Badum
II. MINUTES OF JUNE 6, 1994, were approved with the correction of
Mike Kranzley not present at last meeting. A letter faxed from
Mike Kranzley dated May 27, 1994, was added to the minutes.
III. A. Parking
Karen Weigand speaking on parking, answered questions
on parking regulations along Seashore bike trail. Karen
advised there will be 2 new bike units from 23rd to 53rd
Streets and possibly further. Se also advised if a car tire is
parked on or over the line of the bike trail, it can be cited.
A suggestion was made to notice Seashore residents
advising parking enforcements along bike trail. Karen
suggests calling dispatch to advise of parking violations. A
suggestion has been made to make parking on ocean side
of Seashore permit only. Steve Badum advised Oceanfront
Comprehensive Committee is reviewing turning Seashore
again into a 2 lane street with bikes riding in the direction
of cars. Steve stressed it is only being studied.

IV. Subcommittee Reports
A. City Council
No report on bike accidents that Evelyn Hart had heard of
yet, (4th of July). She observed a safer 4th of July. Stated
budget was approved and there are no funds for bike trails.
Evelyn requested that letter to Cal Poly be reviewed by City
Council.
B. Bike Safety (No Report)
C. Back Bay Drive
Committee was advised that the trails are multi -use.
E. General Plan (No Report)
F. Commuter (No Report)
G. Bike Event
A motion was made by Randy Johnson to have caps made to
identify Committee members at the October 16th bike
event. Motion was seconded. Ed Walsh will check into P A
system for guests speakers.
V. NEW BUSINESS
A letter from Newport Pier Association was discussed. Ed Walsh
will invite Marcia Dossey to attend our next meeting.
VI. NEXT MEETING
August 1, 1994, 7:00 P.M.
VII. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
