BICYCLE TRAILS CITIZENS' ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF MEETING OF AUGUST 1, 1994
The meeting was called to order at the Police Facility at 870 Santa
Barbara Drive at 7:10 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Val Skoro, ,Joann Lombardo, Paul Watkins,
Cindy Gittleman, Marianne Whitby, Mike
Kranzley, and Fran Farrer
POLICE DEPARTMENT: Ed Walsh
PUBLIC WORKS:
II. MINUTES OF ,JULY 5, 1994, were approved. with the correction of
Mike Kranzley not present at last meeting. A letter faxed from
Mike Kranzley dated May 27, 1994, was added to the minutes.
III. SUBCOMMITTEE REPOR
A. City Council
No report as Evelyn Hart was out of town.
B. Bike Safetv
,Joanne Lombardo started a discussion about the Back Bay
Drive problems. She has made contact with students at Cal
Poly Pomona, who are going to be doing a "Student Study"
of ways to help bicycle riders and pedestrians exist more
harmoniously together on the trail.
C. Back Bay Drive (No Report)
D. General Plan (No Report)
E. Commuter (No Report)
SUBJECT: Bicycle Trials Citizens' Advisory Committee

F. Bike Event
Letter was sent to Kraft Foods requesting their support.
Marianne Whitby asked if local restaurants were going to be
contacted for support. The issue is being looked at by Ed
Walsh, and letter sent to possible other support businesses
and corporations.
G. Seashore Drive
Mike Kranzley, Cindy Gittleman, Val Skoro, and Paul Watkins
brought discussions from other West Newport Committees
regarding the possible elimination of striped bike lanes
with Seashore Drive being changed to a two-way street. No
motions were made for further discussion or study.
A letter from Newport Pier Association was discussed. Ed
Walsh will invite Marcia Dossey to attend our next meeting.
