Conditions for Approval

Conditions:
1. When an addition is added and the existing building is already provided with an
automatic fire sprinklers system, fire sprinklers shall be provided in the new addition.
California Fire Code (CFC) Section 9.04.270 Amendment to Section 903.2
2. Commercial cooking equipment that produce grease laden vapors shall be provided with
a Type I Hood, in accordance with the California Mechanical Code, and an automatic
fire extinguishing system that is listed and labeled for its intended use. CFC Section
904.12
3. Each required commercial kitchen exhaust hood and duct system required by Section 607
to have a Type I hood shall be protected with an approved automatic fire-extinguishing
system installed in accordance with this code. CFC Section 904.2.2
4. As per CFC Section 906.4, fire extinguishers provided for the protection of cooking
equipment shall be of an approved type compatible with the automatic fire-extinguishing
system agent. Cooking equipment involving solid fuels or vegetable or animal oils and
fats shall be protected by a Class K-rated portable extinguisher.
