This chapter provides for two official police tow agencies operating under a contractual agreement with the City. G&W Towing and Harbor Towing are currently the two official police tow agencies. Each contract is for a two year period, and expire on alternate years. The contract with Harbor Towing expires on February 7, 1990. Notification of the open bid for official police tow contract was published in the Orange Coast Daily Pilot, and sent to tow companies currently licensed in the City. The open bid period closed on January 4, 1990, with Harbor Towing the only company submitting a bid. A copy of the application is attached. Discussion Harbor Towing has been providing official police tow services in the City for seventeen years. The police department has inspected the nine (9) vehicles operated by the company and the storage facilities for compliance with Municipal Code and Vehicle Code requirements and indicated the company meets current requirements. The inspection results and recommendation from the police department is attached. Recommendation It is respectfully recommended the City Council award the agreement to provide official police tow services for the period of February 7, 1990 through February 6, 1992, to Harbor Towing. -,Il o -v..
