Dear Mr. Zdeba,
I have just learned of the possible purchase and building of 4302 Ford Road which is a multi unit project.
I use that park once or twice a week for Pickleball and the children’s park as well as safely riding through
the proposed area on my road bike to get to MacArthur (which I know many high schoolers also do). I
am also a port street homeowner. I feel this would have a negative impact on the port street community
and park users. With all the multi unit projects in Newport Center, our city is starting to take on a whole
different feel. Expanding the park is costly but would preserve home values and the overall appeal of the
city.
We are in desperate need of more Pickleball courts. The wonderful courts we now have just replaced
the 4 on San Joaquin so there was no additional courts build for this very popular (and community
oriented) sport.
