I have lived in the Port Streets since 2012 and one of the reasons that I was drawn to the neighborhood was not only the parks throughout, but also the tranquility and the natural beauty that surrounds our neighborhood. It reminds me of my childhood. The last thing I want is to remove one of the main reasons that I bought into this neighborhood. Beyond my nostalgia, the project's environmental impact is major: infringing on wildlife habitats, the removal of massive trees, etc. is something that cannot be disregarded. We have a responsibility to protect the natural surroundings, not remove them for profit. Most importantly, I am concerned about the threats to safety that this project 100% guarantees. My children are very little. We go to this park multiple times a week. We play AYSO in those fields. Take tennis lessons at the tennis courts. Have held birthday parties next to the playground. My kids have learned to ride their scooters and bikes in this park. Building this condo/apartment project threatens the safety of my kids with cars coming in and out of a hidden driveway. Trucks parking in the driveway will have to back up blindly up the incline on the driveway. It will make it nearly impossible to see pedestrians. We have learned the parking at the building will be minimal, which means increased traffic on the street with residents looking for places to park. Increased traffic, and the design of the entrance to the building are a threat to our children's safety. And, with little parking for the building itself, that means major congestion on Ford Road, with competition for parking - already fierce with AYSO and other programming in the park - will be horrendous. I am in strong opposition to this project. I hope the city will take a real, sincere look at what it means for the residents. I want them to think like parents and what this project could mean to their children't safety. Sincerely, Kimberly Lee Port Street Resident
