I am very opposed to the proposed construction project at Ford Road/Bonita Canyon Sports Park. I walk my dog down that street and through the park EVERY SINGLE DAY. The traffic is very heavy & I intentionally leave early, between 6-6:30am to avoid traffic. I have seen several pedestrians and children on bikes hit trying to cross at various intersections, especially the main exit onto Culver. People are in a rush to get to work or get children to school and with the already heavy traffic it creates a hug bottleneck especially true 7:30am-9am. Children going to CDM HS walk, bike, scooter & skateboard through the park at the corner daily. This area is high traffic with very low visibility. I can’t imagine more congestion and more cars and traffic..It will only result in more accidents and children injured. We moved to the Port Streets because of the proximity to CDM and the ability of children to walk/bike independently. I can’t believe the NB Planning Commission would consider this project. It will be a detriment to the park and to the neighborhoods surrounding it. I would also mention many elderly people go in and out of the park in the early am to play pickleball, it would put them at risk as well. I urge you to not approve this project for the welfare of our community, especially the students and the elderly. Thank you for your consideration.
