DISCUSSION:
The Public Works Department operates 123 city -owned traffic signals. Annually, a project
is developed to replace and rehabilitate older traffic signals that are at the end of their
service lives. The work typically consists of replacing aging poles, control cabinets,
equipment and wiring to maintain the existing traffic signal operation and increase the
reliability of the Traffic Signal System. For this budget year, the project consists of the
following three (3) locations:
• MacArthur Boulevard at Bonita Canyon Drive
• Placentia Avenue at West 15th Street
• Newport Coast Drive at San Joaquin Hills Road
