January 13, 19669
TO: CITY COUNCIL
FROM: Public Works Department
SUBJECT: JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH COUNTY FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize execution of agreement by the Mayor.
DISCUSSION:
The agreement prepared by the County defines and formalizes the sharing of
costs and responsibilities for operating two traffic signals - Palisades at Tustin
and Jamboree at Palisades - and further establishes procedure for possible future
installations at similar City- County boundaries.
The sharing of maintenance and operation costs is based on the number of
traffic legs in each jurisdiction. This is a satisfactory method; the same as used
in our cost sharing for State highway installations.
Ratification of this agreement will permit the,County to bill the City for
$116.57 to cover our share at the Tustin intersection and permit us to bill the County
for $456.56 to cover its share at Jamboree through December 31, 1968.
The City Attorney has reviewed the agreement and approved it as to form
and content.
