Improvements to the deteriorated concrete walkway at Lido Park were also included as part of this project. The contracted work has now been completed to the satisfaction of the Public Works Department. A summary of the construction cost is as follows: Original Bid Amount: Actual Cost of Bid Items Constructed: Total Change Orders: Final Contract Cost: $ 644,390.00 $ 627,640.00 $ 74,898.23 $ 702,538.23 The final contract cost was $702,538.23, which was approximately nine percent higher than the original bid amount. This cost increase was primarily due to an increase in actual quantities constructed in the field as compared to the bid quantities. The cost increase was also due to City of Newport Beach staff's request for the contractor to perform work on Saturdays in the areas adjacent to Newport Harbor High School and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and School, to minimize disturbances while school is in session. Additionally, following the completion of the original contract work, drainage issues were identified near the intersection of Ashford Lane and Greenwood Lane. Staff directed the contractor to remove and replace a section of curb and gutter to improve the drainage.
