SETBACKS AND TOP OF SLAB/FLOOR
ELEVATION CERTIFICATE
The purpose of this certificate is to insure that the structure is located properly on site per the approved
drawings. This certificate also verifies the top of slab/floor elevation noted on the approved drawings.
After the top of slab/floor elevation is verified to match the elevation specified on the approved
drawings, the contractor and inspector can measure the height of the structure to the top of slab/floor to
verify that it is equal or less than the dimension shown on building sections and elevations.
This form must be filled out by a registered surveyor or civil engineer authorized to perform surveys.
The survey must be done after the concrete forms are in place or preferable after the concrete slab is
poured or raised floor is built, but prior to starting wall framing.

Dear Mr. Puffer:
We are pleased to present the results of our geotechnical testing and observation services during
pad reprocessing/earthwork construction associated with the subject buildings of Tract No.
18135, a residential tract development. The project is located in the City of Newport Beach,
Orange County, California. The site was previously rough graded and reported on June 4, 2020
(GeoTek, 2020n).
Surficial recompaction of the subject pads has been completed under the observation of and with
selective testing by GeoTek, Inc. (GeoTek) on August 23, 2021. It is to the best of our knowledge
that the earthwork under the purview of this report has been completed in general accordance
with the approved geotechnical reports for the site, applicable provisions of the California
Building Code, the City of Newport Beach and Orange County guidelines.
This report provides a summary of site preparation observed during the reported earthwork,
results of field density and moisture tests and provides finalized foundation design
recommendations.

SUMMARY OF GEOLOGIC CONDITIONS AND SITE PREPARATION
Based on our field testing and observations during lot reprocessing, we note the following:
• Vegetation and deleterious materials were removed within the limits of the earthwork
construction. The limits of the lot reprocessing generally included the entire lot.
• The overall site area, beneath the existing engineered fill, is locally underlain by earth
materials consisting of older paralic deposits.
• The exposed surface of the pads was scarified to a depth of approximately 18 inches,
moisture conditioned to at least the optimum moisture content and compacted. Based
on the results of the field density tests at the locations indicated, the soil was compacted
to a minimum relative compaction of 90 percent (ASTM D 1557).
• Visual classification of the soil in the field, compared to soil descriptions from laboratory
testing, was the basis for determining the maximum dry density value and optimum
moisture content applied to each density test.
FIELD AND LABORATORY TESTING
FIELD TESTING
Field density tests were taken at random locations within the limits of the subject pads to check
the compaction efforts by the contractor. The field density testing was performed using a nuclear
gauge in general accordance with ASTM D 6938. The results of the field density tests are included
in the attached Table I.
LABORATORY TESTING
Moisture -Density Relationship
The laboratory maximum dry density and optimum moisture content for the soil type tested was
determined in general accordance with test method ASTM D I S57. Table A below presents the
soil type used for this portion of the project.

Expansive Potential and Sulfate Content
Based on the laboratory test results previously reported (GeoTek, 2020n) for expansion
potential, the on-site finish grade soils are classified as having a "very low" (EI=O) expansion
potential in accordance with ASTM D 4829.
Based on the results reported for water soluble sulfate content by Project X Corrosion
Engineering (GeoTek, 2020n), the on-site soils near finish grade for Pads 6 and 7 are considered
"negligible" (Sulfate = 0.0088%) for corrosion of metals and cement. A special mix design is not
required by code for these lou.
FOUNDATION RECOMMENDATIONS
FOUNDATION DESIGN CRITERIA
Foundation design criteria for "very low" expansion potential is provided in the project reports
(GeoTek, 2017b, 2018b and 2020h) for the proposed residential structures and remain applicable
for the subject site.
POST GRADING CRITERIA
Additional Grading/Construction Observations
We recommend that any additional site grading be reviewed by this office prior to construction to
check for conformance with the recommendations of the applicable and referenced reports. We
also recommend that GeoTek representatives be present during site development and foundation
construction to check for proper implementation of the geotechnical recommendations. The
client's representatives should verify that GeoTek perform at least the following duties:
• Observe placement of retaining wall backd rains, if any, prior to placing backfill materials.
• Observe and test retaining wall backfill, if any.

lntracorp SW, LLC September 3, 2021
Building Pads 6 & 7, Tract No. 18135 Project No. 2343 -CR
City of Newport Beach, County of Orange California Page 4
• Observe fill placement and perform compaction tests to verify that a minimum of 90 percent
of the laboratory standard for utility line trench backfill is achieved.
• Observe slab/flatwork subgrade and perform moisture content evaluation tests prior to
placing concrete slabs and flatwork.
• Observe and probe retaining wall and residence foundation excavations to confirm suitability
of bearing materials with respect to density.
Landscape Maintenance and Planting
An excessive amount of water has been shown to weaken the inherent strength of soil, and slope
stability is significantly reduced by overly wet conditions. Positive surface drainage away from graded
slopes should be maintained and only the amount of irrigation necessary to sustain plant life should
be provided for planted slopes. Care should be taken when adding soil amendments to avoid
excessive watering.
Graded slopes constructed utilizing on-site materials are considered erodible. Eroded debris may
be minimized, and surficial slope stability enhanced by establishing and maintaining a suitable
vegetation cover soon after construction. Plants selected for landscaping should be lightweight,
deep-rooted types, which require little water and are capable of surviving the prevailing climate.
An abatement program to control ground -burrowing rodents should be implemented and
maintained. Burrowing rodents can decrease the long-term performance of slopes.
Drainage
Positive site drainage should be maintained at all times. Water should be directed away from
foundations and not allowed to pond or seep into the ground adjacent to structure footings. Pad
drainage should be directed toward approved disposal areas.
Foundation Excavation Observation
All footing excavations should be observed by a representative of this office to check for
compliance with the recommendations prior to the placement of reinforcement. It would likely
be necessary to perform this observation following compaction of the interior utility trenches.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
The materials observed on the project site appear to be representative of the area; however, soil
and bedrock materials vary in character between excavations. Since our observations and test
results are based on the site conditions observed and encountered, and laboratory testing, our
conclusions are professional opinions are limited to the extent of the available data.
Cuts, fills and processing of existing fills under the purview of this report have been completed
under the observation of and with selective testing by GeoTek, Inc. and are found to be in
compliance with the Grading Ordinances of the County of Orange, California. Our findings were
made, and recommendations prepared in conformance with generally accepted professional
engineering practices and no further warranty is implied. This report is subject to review by the
controlling authorities for this project. GeoTek accepts neither responsibility nor liability for
work, testing, or recommendations performed or provided by others.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service on this project. Please contact the undersigned
if you have any questions.
