A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH RECOMMENDING APPROVAL TO THE
CITY COUNCIL OF AN PREZONE AMENDMENT FOR PROPERTY
ABUTTING PROPERTY LOCATED AT 4700 SURREY DRIVE
[AMENDMENT 870]
WHEREAS, approximately two- tenths of an acre of land associated with property located
at 4700 Surrey Drive was inadvertently excluded when that property was annexed to the City of
Newport Beach in 1977; and
WHEREAS, that the subject property needs to be incorporated into the land use planning
documents of the City of Newport Beach so it can be joined with the property located at 4700
Surrey Drive; and
WHEREAS, the California Government Code provides that a city may prezone property for
the purpose of determining the zoning that will apply to such property in the event of subsequent
annexation to the city; and
WHEREAS, on March 19, 1998, the Planning Commission of the City of Newport Beach
held a public hearing regarding General Plan Amendment 98 -1 (D) and Local Coastal Program
Amendment 49; and
WHEREAS, the public was duly noticed of the public hearing; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act, it has been determined
that the proposed amendment is categorically exempt under Class 5, minor alterations in land use
limitations.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Commission of the City of
Newport Beach does hereby recommend that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
approve Amendment 870 to amend Districting Map Number 33 to prezone the subject property
to Single Family Residential /B Overlay (R -1 -B District).
