I have reached out to Mr. Dietz and he wished to submit his comments as he will not be able to attend the study session. Thank you, Rosalinh From: Grant Dietz <Rrant@grantgdietz.com> Sent: July 20, 2022 12:59 PM To: Ung, Rosalinh <rung@newportbeachca.gov> Cc: Sinacori, Mike <MSinacori@newportbeachca.gov> Subject: VE Zone Affected Properties/ I'm Affected! Good afternoon Rosalyn, I'm arguably the Most Affected individual by Code Amendments for the VE Flood Zone issues. I live at 107 27th St., and the four oceanfront lots in front of my house were all built roughly 80 years ago. When purchasing and subsequently extensively remodeling, I understood that someday I would lose some light, view, breeze, and the sounds of the ocean. But, there was a reasonable limit to the height of the oceanfront homes, and a 6 foot gap between them for breeze, view, and sound. This will now all disappear. Yes, FEMA states that we can't limit the property rights of the oceanfront homes, but what about our rights in the second row? Not to mention the rest of the homes further down the street, and the total character assassination of the Newport Beach Peninsula community. THERE MUST BE SOMETHING ELSE THAT CAN BE DONE (Like raising the sand). Or, forget FEMA and find an outside insurance for peninsula properties. I understand some schlock company analyzed this and stated that the current plan is the only way. I don't believe it. Something more prudent can and should be done. I will be out of town next week during the meeting, but want a meeting with the powers that be on this matter. Please give me a call to discuss asap. Thank you. Sincerely, Grant G.
