Council
Our next City Council meeting is Tuesday, September 13.
Items of interest are highlighted below. The entire agenda
and reports can be viewed here.
A study session will begin at 4 p.m. Agenda items include:
• Fractional homeownership. Staff will discuss how other jurisdictions are addressing the
growing trend of fractional homeownership, where multiple owners purchase a property
and split time at the property through a formal arrangement.
The regular session begins at 5:30 p.m. Agenda items include:
• A resolution to create a General Plan Advisory Committee. The 30-member citizen
advisory committee would be charged with gathering community input on the General
Plan update, reviewing and guiding changes to General Plan goals and policies, and
making recommendations to the General Plan Update Steering Committee.
A public hearing on the 2021-2029 6th Cycle Housing Element. The Council will conduct
a public hearing and vote on a resolution to amend and re -adopt the Housing Element
of the General Plan, which will guide residential development in Newport Beach over
the next several years. The version under consideration includes revisions made since
the prior City Council adoption on February 8. Following Council approval, the state
department of Housing and Community Development will consider final approval.
